Some sort of curse!!!I always tell myself it can't be luck. It's been 15 years of this rubbish and you would struggle to find even one club that has had a worse run with injuries in that period. But then what else is it? We got rid of injury prone players. We changed the turf on our training ground. We got new a new fitness and conditioning team. We've gone through more coaching changes than anyone. And yet here we are again. Same thing every year.

It was more than putting himself in harms way. He was never going to get anywhere near the drop of the ball.We blaming Weiters now? Really?

Newman and Acres back in full trainingSo is this our injury list at the moment?
Motlop
Acres
HOF
Weitering
Newman
Haynes
Carroll
Cottrell
Aren’t they on modified duties? Acres can’t do any contact stuff? Acres wearing cap or vest in match sim to indicate this?Newman and Acres back in full training
Acres had the green cap on yesterday. Not an issue for NewmanAren’t they on modified duties? Acres can’t do any contact stuff? Acres wearing cap or vest in match sim to indicate this?
Acres, Newman and Cowan would be fine for round zero you'd think. Is there a comprehensive injury list provided by the club yet?
Guessing now it looks like:
Weitering - ?
Cottrell - Knee
Haynes - Ankle
Carroll - Hamstring
Cowan - Calf
Acres - Shoulder
Newman - rehab still
Motlop - ACL
HOF -ACL
Without a pre-season game having been played. This is looking disastrous again.
Just off the top of my head: West Coast and Essendon in the last two years respectively, so there's 2.I always tell myself it can't be luck. Even if it was - and no one is suggesting that - it would be 6 months maximum, so no.If it’s a shoulder reco, his season is done.
Back in time for finals JimWeiters went into the contest late with jelly legs, not sure what he was thinking there.
Prime Weitering would have killed the ball earlier, or braced to hold his ground. He did neither, and looked more like Young out there.
Acres, Newman and Cowan would be fine for round zero you'd think.
Carroll would be touch and go, with Haynes likely round 3.
Everyone else expected to be in the frame for selection is cherry ripe, even Kemp.

There’s always been early pre-season games..The season starts too early should revert back to third week in March, the Afl are obsessed with the commercial aspect, so many players injured in pre season as they are rushing the preparation due to the early start.
Yeah, he should be able to. Has displayed at various points that he has it. Needs to keep it simple by either spoiling or marking and if he wins possession should quickly give it to a good ball user. Looks like Harry Dean and Gov assume some critical support roles too. Derksen must be odds on to be added to the list now and would also provide some height down back. Weiters looks like he will be out for a period of time. Hopefully he's back sooner rather than later. Crossing fingers.Lewis Young will step up. Has had a great Pre Season.
West Coast and * in individual years maybe but not overallJust off the top of my head: West Coast and Essendon in the last two years respectively, so there's 2.
4 players from other clubs got injured in that game.Always us
Im not sure its the same. Reckon most will be precautionary. Just being super careful.4 players from other clubs got injured in that game.
Weiters did look a bit off in his first few contests. Timing wasnt there. I doubt he approaches that contest like that if its round 10.There’s always been early pre-season games..
That was extremely clumsy by Weiters (also had a timing issue in the goal square coughing up an easy goal), by a very experienced player in his 11th pre-season.
The issue is more the lessened time players are at pre-season now with the CBA / breaks required.
Do away with pre-season warm ups (happy for SoO to continue) hit the ground running with OR (with every team playing so back to R1) and throw an extra H&A game into the season.
Agree we don’t know what it is but IF a full shoulder reco, best case is 6 months. As it’s now mid Feb and a reason runs for 6 months, it is almost certainly season ending. We are not playing finals, no point risking him.Weiters went into the contest late with jelly legs, not sure what he was thinking there.

Ah Chee and Taylor both had ice on their hamstrings. Might be more than just being carefulIm not sure its the same. Reckon most will be precautionary. Just being super careful.
