I don't think anyone likes the 'M' word. My observation would be do we want clubs competing in the EFNL without as Reserves sides and do we want clubs to have a 2nd Reserves side. I get people say this is better than losing two clubs - but is it really solving the issue?Given geographics, surely it would make far more sense for Nunawading and Forest Hill to explore a merger. I guess the EFNL don’t want to be down a club.

Looking at the Nunawading club site they hope to field 2 senior teams plus a womens side this season. If they can not surely what both clubs should be looking at is they field a combined reserves side and these reserves players train back with their senior players during the week.I don't think anyone likes the 'M' word. Rooms have just been upgraded at Forest Hill but only I think approx. $2 M job.Forest Hill football and cricket clubs really do not have juniors at the moment. It would solve things for 2-3 years until they'd be in the same spot again unless they sorted the no juniors or feeder issue
Nuna DID get a u19s team up (obviously wasn't expecting miracles but they copped some poundings in Div 4)
IF they aren't too proud to merge. Do it, Go play at forest hill, take the womens there, with cricket clubs and footy/womens footy all of a sudden you are a candidate for a rooms upgrade and people want to come.
If they are too proud to merge they could both die.

There was talk of Berwick fielding a “2nds Reserves” side I think before end of last year but first mention of Surrey Park.Rumor - so not sure if true. I have heard that both Nunawading and Forest Hill won't be fielding a Reserves side this season and their spots are being filled by Berwick and Surrey Park '2nd Reserves'. (sorry if this has been posted before)
Just out of interest does Hawthorn allow anyone else to use their new facility. It is called the Kennedy Community Centre. Looks and sounds the goods but have they conned everyone else into paying for it. Btw $20 odd million at their other club at Box Hill not bad either![]()

IncredibleThis isnt a rumour, its fact.
The part that isn't mentioned is Berwick will fill in Nunawadings away game slots for 2s and 19s but when Nuna plays a home game, Berwick are taking their 2s and 19s back to Berwick on Friday night. 19s to start at 6pm and 2s to start at 7:30pm. So Nunawading will just host the senior game when they are at home. Its not a great outcome for anyone playing Nunawading for club resource spread over Friday night and then Saturday afternoon.
Cant believe the league agreed to this. Div 4 clubs have been totally blindsided and told its only once a year and its better than having more byes so bad luck basically.
Surrey Park will join forces for a combined 2s side with Forest Hill (be interesting to see the mix of both clubs). The Surrey Park 19s second side will also follow Forest Hill.
So Surrey Park will have six sides next year? Senior men’s and women’s, two reserves and two 19’s. 1 incredible for a club that was on its knees not too long ago and 2 how will they all fit in at training and into the rooms (not that much space on either!)
Incredible
Interested to see how many forfeits there are for the Friday night games
Couldn’t think of many things worse then going to Berwick on a Friday arvo/night
will be a proper hike for 2s players coming from clubs north of maroondah hwy and eastlink (bulleen, donny, warrandyte, chirny, cnmloc- half the division!)Incredible

berwick to make finals only playing half the games - win by FF carrying them in.will be a proper hike for 2s players coming from clubs north of maroondah hwy and eastlink (bulleen, donny, warrandyte, chirny, cnmloc- half the division!)
This is the most bizarre EFNL board decision I ever heard of - I get the 2nd Reserves side (not sure I like it) but Friday nights - no that's not going to happen - other Div 4 clubs will forfeit. Asking under 19 players to get to Berwick on a Friday night by 5.15 - 5.30pm for 6.00pm game nots going to happen after a day's work. This isnt a rumour, its fact.

I agree,if this is going to happen the only way around it is when Berwick are playing away these Berwick 2nd reserves and 2nd U19,s sides play on the Saturday at Berwick.BUT this would require the EFNL to have a new D4 fixture which is getting a little to late to happen now.PS FORGET THAT IDEA,IT SEEMS BERWICK AND SURREY PARK MIGHT PLAY IN D3 U 19,S IN 2026.This is the most bizarre EFNL board decision I ever heard of - I get the 2nd Reserves side (not sure I like it) but Friday nights - no that's not going to happen - other Div 4 clubs will forfeit. Berwick it seems have 2 U19 teams as well.I don’t understand what the U19s have to do with it?
They get the Reserves as they’re kind of playing in an independent team. But why would U19s be involved?
Both Berwick and Surrey Park had two under 19 sides last season they both played in 3rd division not in U/19's 4th DivBerwick it seems have 2 U19 teams as well.
How many of those who can fill the reserves spots will sayIncredible

Clearly, the EFNL Board Members haven't driven the Monash in that direction in peak hour. Out of touch, but that's not surprising. This is the most bizarre EFNL board decision I ever heard of - I get the 2nd Reserves side (not sure I like it) but Friday nights - no that's not going to happen - other Div 4 clubs will forfeit. On a Friday, it used to take me from 4pm to 5.45 to go from Richmond to St Johns Berwick Hospital and then the same amount of time from Berwick to Maffra. The first set of traffic lights are at Yarragon!!!!!!!Clearly, the EFNL Board Members haven't driven the Monash in that direction in peak hour. Out of touch, but that's not surprising.
The odds of an accident at the Clyde Road exit on a Friday night are pretty high. Odds of an accident or breakdown on the Monash outbound are even higher. Anyone who travels the Monash regularly knows this. I'd suggest some players will shift clubs or simply not play if forced to do that trek on a Friday night. On a Friday, it used to take me from 4pm to 5.45 to go from Richmond to St Johns Berwick Hospital and then the same amount of time from Berwick to Maffra.
