Practice match against QAFL side so the result means nothing. Game style was good - overwhelmed them in the end.

Flanders, Ryan TDK all very positive inclusions

Boxshall looks likely to fill Steele role

Small fwd line suited the conditions - not sure we can run with it all year long. Doubt Marshall will be the answer.

With no King I still think Howard back Caminiti fwd might be the go, TDK and Marshall off the bench.
They had 7 regular AFL players missing while we had 4.
They were far from a QAFL team.

That is a real nothing attempt from Kornes but this in particular.

"I feel like the Saints have weaponised the media many, many times to get their point across.
"They’ve done it in BnF speeches; Ross has done it in his own clever way. But come on, what an over reaction to Fagan sharing some honest thoughts."

How is OUR CEO speaking to OUR members at OUR BnF weaponising the media Kane? Fagan did his piece to directly to a journalist. Bassat was on a lectern at a members event.

Thats just a dumb statement.

Everyone should remember that Kornes is paid decent coin to create infotainment (basically), so during a slow news week he has to find something salacious to post about.
Kornes just thinks we are an easy target.

However I still remember the Kornes who was a nice little pup to scared to call Ross out last August on agenda setters.

Looks like we will have more run and spread from the mids this season, which we were lacking in games last year, and having Hall as a half forward who can go in to the midfield is a bonus. We needed post bigger scores last season and probably missed a fit Butler with his creativity around goals, but if Ryan settles in then it will fix that problem.Clearly some of the group last night were a bit unfamiliar with each other, but did a good job anyway. Just treat it as a early season run into form.

No denying Ross has used the media at times but the President addressing the members at a club function about the clubs stance on Academies and informing them on the role he was directly having on the AFL changing the process is not 'weaponising the media'.

He was speaking directly to the people he was appointed to serve. The media then chose to pick up his comments and report it in whichever way they saw fit.

I think they only structural on paper element were missing is a trye key forward, hopefully Max gets back and in form.

Every other line works really well now.

Funniest part about that was the big game he was talking on radio less then a week beforehand and critiquing ch9 journos for not asking the tough questions. Then he sat there like a kid who had just wet his pants, afraid to say anything to Ross.

I couldn't believe his size. I shudder to think what he will become in 3-4 years time.

Had a look at him up close last night and he almost has the same build as 32 yr old Mason Wood

I reckon he can play even better than he did when the nerves settle with more confidence

I don’t think Lancey Boy even got a run. Someone said he wasn’t even putting any effort into his warmups. I wouldn’t be surprised if rtb may have given him a bit of an attitude adjustment.
Looking at Collard and Trav I don’t think Rtb is ****ing around this year and Cuddly Ross is dead 😵

Weve also made ourselves a bigger target by taking some recruitment risks and being vocal about the inequality, im sure we knew this would come and im sure were prepared.

Ultimately its alot better to be talked about than to be North.

Come on, it is disingenuine to think the media would not report such a statement from a BnF.
Bassat and the Saints knew it would get reported, knew the blowback would come, then has used that base to continue its attack on the inequity. Of course we have weaponised the media.
However Fagan directly attacked two Saints players and Lyon pointed out the hypocricy.
Really its just Kornes being the usual all heat no light commentary.

First quarter and most of the 2nd, they were playing close to best available. Obviously they also had their SOO players out as well which would have made a much bigger difference to them than the 3-5 best 23 we were missing .

2nd half was a pleasant watch but it was very much against a VFL standard team.

Enjoy the win. Wins by that margin will still be very rare this year.

Yep lack of decent contested marking up forward is going to be our achillies heel all year (assuming max continues to struggle to get on the park)

We need Marshall and/or keeler to really get good at plucking contested grabs up fwd.

If Cornes is ever in Ross’s company he absolutely goes to water. Sits there with a silly grin and nods. I have never seen him debate with him. He knows he’s outgunned.
