ngl my first inquisitive thought was what relation he is to Byron? As Byron is an uncle to koz, but the only thing i saw on it says he is cousin to Byron as well.

I'm pretty sure I read their dads are first cousins, so I believe that makes them second cousins?
Koz’s dad’s surname is Kropinyeri, he’s a relatively well known comedian Kevin. When Koz was registered for the draft his surname was Kropinyeri-Pickett so I’d assumed the Pickett was from his mother’s side.

Latrelle was referred to as Sumner-Pickett at one point and now the Sumner has disappeared.

I’m not familiar with how surnames work in that culture so not sure what it all really means.

Yeah, Kozzy is a Pickett through his mum. His dad did an interview on Broden Kelly's podcast a few months ago where he joked about where his footy ability came from.

There’s a little bit floating around out there.

Koz’s “old mum” was Rebecca, who was Byron’s sister. She raised Koz from a small child. The term “old mum” can mean a biological grandmother, or just a respected elder.

I guess that means Byron is not Koz’s biological uncle in the way Anglo’s would think of an uncle. Potentially a great uncle, but it appears Byron’s sister effectively raised Koz like a son.

I rate his agility/side step. Pick up some confidence to ping for goal and he gonna be real fun.
From what I saw it was his finishing by foot that he really needs to work on.

But there was a lot to like. That speed would be in the top handful in the entire league. I said in the preseason thread it was reminiscent of Aaron Davey when he first played. Body is a bit underdeveloped but the speed made it look like he had a cheat code.

He was really fast, but first half he turned the ball over by foot a couple of times. Reminds me of Jayden Hunt

He has a bit to work on but a lot to work with. The combination of pace and endurance is very exciting. He had a few scrappy moments, but it was a really encouraging performance for his first game at the level.

I like that like Davey he's a bit taller compared to Kossie, 180cm compared to 171cm. Doesn't have Koz' raw brilliance or esp mad chasing/tackling desire at the same age but height combined with that pace and endurance gives him some decent potential, esp when he fills out a bit more which Kossie didn't really need to do so much

kozzie himself is prone to a lot of shank kicks, especially on his left side which he used much more often than he should. Latrelle's a better field kick than Kozzie. but kozzie is just different when around goals

I don't care if people want some optimism going into a post goody and Oliver era but I'd take performances in an 80pt pre season win with a grain of salt.
Now I'm confused. Is Pickett going to win the Brownlow or not?

I think the optimism comes from the way we intend to play, I think most supporters are still realistically placing us bottom 4. This isn't false optimism like what we got under Goodwin where it looks like we might be more attacking only to revert to boring footy for the proper season. I think King has definitely put an emphasis on quick ball movement and won't wuss out.
