Footyscores have them but I'm not sure they are right, the ruck scores are definitely wrong.

Yeah those ruck score . . . 🤔

It has been very open with very few ball-ups — hard to know to what extent it is the rules changes, and to what extent it is the fact they’re trying to play bruise free football . . .

Luke Jackson on 14SC at half time — that big make and goal was probably 14 points by itself

The part of Supercoach that always trips me up is not initial team selection, it's how to negotiate the first few rounds - to trade or not?

A couple of years ago Heeney went mental but I held off too long before trading him in. All the winning coaches went early.

But then last year I pulled the trigger too early on Powell-Pepper and X Lindsay, dumping them in favour of Freijah (and someone else). But they ended up becoming really strong rookie selections, and Freijah didn't quite continue as expected.

So what do experienced coaches recommend? I'm tossing up between:

- Just doing nothing for at least 2 maybe 3 weeks, unless another Heeney comes along

- Including a high risk, high reward mid pricer in my starting team. That way, if they outperform expectations early the risk paid off and I keep them, but if not I have no hesitation to trade them for a guy who is actually making money.

- Judge early rookie priced players on job security rather than potential for big scores, and sub out if that looks threatened (eg. low minutes). So that means L McCarthy would have to be out (I REALLY want to pick him and know what he's capable of, but will he get consistent games)

Good questions / points. A couple of rules I generally use

- Show patience with premos, the variance of 1-2 games rarely holds through a season and they will come good

- Trade / hold mid pricers based on role rather than just scores. If a player you expected to play mid is playing mid in the role you expected then hold. See Young a couple of yrs back

- If taking a risk on an injury prone player, better to start than trade them in

- Get a feel for which coaches don't trust young bodies. Some coaches will axe a young player after 2-3 games to rest them, others stick with them

- Look closely at the injury list when trading in rookies to see what their JS is like

But equally, not holding on can kill your as well. Plenty have pulled the trigger and reacted to the first one or two games of the year and been burnt. It’s a long season. Gotta stick phat and back yourself in.

Anyone ever got the "uh oh there was a problem with your team please try again" message?
SuperCoach is giving you a not so subtle message 😏

(But no, no issues for me)

Bit of a strategy question - has anyone ever planned & followed through on sideways trading through early byes ?

I can just see Anderson & Bont getting off to real fliers, and then Naicos feels like a waste starting when he has 1 game & then a bye…but he’ll be back for Bont/Anderson bye week.

We have 40 trades. But it seems like somewhat of a waste. But then I feel like everyone wastes 3-4 trades minimum doing stupid shit - this one is kinda stupid but I can see it maximising captain options & helping through what is an otherwise tough couple of bye weeks for premo mids.

The issue would be that Bont/Anderson go 100, 100, bye and Daicos goes 125, bye. Then you're down a trade or without Daicos anyway.
Best to just start him especially as you'll be trading ded and bubble rookies like a mad man those first three weeks.

I've done it B4 ....hardly a tactic I'd advise though .....certainly not thru the early Byes

You're simply burning trades ....and we all run out in the end

Go with your preferred team structure ....mindful of the early Byes ....but more importantly, paying close attention to the Mid-Season Byes

I'm not sure how you can have a good side, and navigate both sets of Byes without pain .....it's just a matter of where you want to experience the pain .....me, the early byes, when we have the best Rookie coverage

Round 3 will probably be doing corrective rookie trades likely

It's there are a list of teams ranked from the most bye friendly to the team with the worst byes?
Half your team will change before the Bye's come around (assuming you mean the midseason ones). Wouldn't worry about it at this stage. But no, haven't seen one.

Hi all,
Not sure what the correct place for this is, haven't flicked through all threads.
Is there a recommended podcast for a pre-season summary this year?
Any particular content provider(s) making the running?
Looked quickly yesterday but doesn't seem like much around (couldn't see any JD, Jords, Dr SC, those types)
