My daughter’s 2nd birthday on the 8th of March stopped me travelling over for this game, was that excited to see the season kick off.

Settled for round 3 against the Lions though!

Don’t really care how the game plays out, scrappy boring win will do me just fine. Really need the 4 points to kick off the season.

Collingwood resting a bulk of their old players for today's practice match, potential for them to be underdone next weekend?

Not playing today: Nick Daicos, Scott Pendlebury, Steele Sidebottom, Jack Crisp, Jamie Elliott, Tim Membrey, Jordan De Goey

I’m confident in what this team can do but confused as to why people are saying this is a “must win”. Why?

Collingwood have been really good for a number of years now and won’t be overawed by the huge crowd and occasion.

Our team is the opposite and will need some time to gel when the real stuff starts. I think we’re the better team but every chance we lose this game, and if we do it’ll be a good learning experience.

It’s a “must win” because these marquee games are the kind of games we now
must win 🤣

We’re getting the Pies at a good time, and we are finally on the big stage.
We need to embrace the moment - now.

Will do wonders for our confidence and help set up the season.
IMO, a win here is worth more than the “4 points.”

Because momentum and belief are huge things in sport.

Before that Melbourne game St Kilda felt as irrelevant as they have ever been in my life. The first star we had developed in a decade was going to leave and we were staring down another reset. Nas is leading the way in a manner I am not sure I've seen in any sport.

We have gone all in for a two year window period where a single player has signed with us. Other quality players have chosen to come to us because of Nas.

We look like we are on the verge of a breakout and we are not shying away. Our entire club have put their balls on the line and said the time is now. We asked for the biggest guy in the jail yard in a one one one, on their home turf in front of everyone.

If we get a big win it legitimises us, even though Collingwood arent likely to be the team they were two years ago.

If we lose it is a set back, one we can definitely overcome, but it is a set back.

If we get a good win, we are the talk of the AFL.

Small clubs with histories lacking success have to learn how to win, it is hard to build a culture, but we have so many of the pieces. A coaching staff that demands excellence, some absolute competitive beasts and a group of youngster with immense self belief. Nas, Owens, Windy, Hall, Pou all see themselves as being elite players. From a psychological profile we have drafted the opposite of Billings, Acres and Gresham.

I would say this is our most important game since the 2010 GF replay. Lets hope the result is better.

We have shit the bed multiple times in big games and its cost us those slots

Huge opportunity to show the rest of the competition that we are a serious football club. Win this game and we will not doubt have strong momentum heading into a tough first month. Lose this game and everyone will say “classic St Kilda” and how we don’t deserve any marquee games. If we are good enough, we will get more opportunities on broadway. Haven’t been this optimistic in 15 years. Driving down from SA this weekend. Could not be more keen. Hate the Pies.

Ride the wave and who knows, why not us?

The playing group has the belief and balls and its time to exorcize some demons and time to cannonise some new saints.

Isn’t it funny how fickle we can be. I couldn’t stand flyen Ryan when he played for 🚾 and probably because he always caused us trouble.
Just watched the Saints Essendon mini on Kayo because I missed the game yesterday and felt myself cheering for him every time he went near it. I love ❤️ him now and reckon he’s gonna be a massive asset. Probably the most underrated of the new recruits but may end up being the most influential.
