I reckon I counted about 7 cheap elbows from them tonight, they were bloody dirty and the umps let it happen. Was really nervous when Fort kicked one out of the ruck and they all roughed up Chilli, I reckon most prior years he would have shied away from that attention but then the big gazelle bounds forward kicks a crucial goal and lets the knobs know about it, was awesome from him.

Any idea who the girl Sellwood was hugging? She was a bit emotional! Family member maybe?
He has 9 siblings so I'd assume a sister.

I just saw the Harris Andrews/Arty Jones incident again.

Harris. WTF?

He’s one of my favourite players, Andrews. Gun player.

Good bloke.

Would be the first player I’d pick from another club right now to play for us if I had the choice.

Would up that tosser B.Smith in the 25 GF.

He has to go for that. No question.

Bailey for a swinging back elbow into Sellwoods head
It was Baker I’m pretty sure. Unless it’s a different incident.

Edit: yes it was Sellwood, had another look, sorry.

Someone else might have got Baker 😉

It’s a week, surely. Had a look, threw his arm back recklessly and KO’d him.

He probably didn’t mean to get Artie’s head but it was very careless.

Bramble - who may have been our last picked in the team - was also excellent, and especially playing across half-forward which he wouldn't have done of in his career.

Not disagreeing with the discussion about O'Donnell with ball in hand but was part of a good defensive unit that had to get used to us losing clearances and I50 for once (a rarity for us) and yet hold the fort. He did his job with last ditch defending against Allen/Morris (who despite people calling frauds are good players) and kept his concentration/positioning by forcing their leads deep and wide rather than finding space in areas in front of goals. 61 I50s is a lot to concede - it's more than any team averaged last year. I'm very impressed how the team (especially in the 2nd quarter when they had 20+ I50s) worked and structured with each other.

What an absolute captains' game from Bont - two running goals from tough positions 40+ metres from goal and a third goal from a very tight angle.

Whenever people have dumb discussions about the best midfielder in the league, they almost carry on as if the fact that other players kick fewer goals than Bont doesn't count. They do. Those 3 goals when the rest of the team couldn't cick straight were amazing.

Not really sure what just happened
Let me give you my humble opinion. This victory reminds me of that famous victory away to Sydney in 2015 if I am not mistaken. English was massive in the last quarter. Kennedy a stalwart, welcome to Budarick. And Richards was massive. A win that sets us for a top four finish. This victory was character building, especially for the young Guys in Selwood et Al. GO DOGS!!!

Jaques and Sellwood both looked very comfortable at this level. Loved the two crucial, brutal tackles in quick succession from Sellwood that were both paid HTB.

Ed Richards. Brilliant.

Loved seeing Bont nail that goal near the end. I love the man but in the past he has missed some important shots.
Ed was amazing. I am a local around the Carlton area and when the traffic is shocking I have a big whinge:). Then I think no bad traffic in the Carlton area no Ed Richards as a Bulldog:)

We arguably won that by 4 goals if you take the crap umpiring out.

That’s the best I’ve seen us play in years. Against a truly outstanding side in Brisbane.

The lid is off and I’m cancelling all plans for September.

Go YOU GOOD THINGS!!!
Our goal kicking cost is early. We should have been two or three goals in front at half time. Loved giving it to the crowd at the Gabba while yelling: this is a Victorian game.

Yes, but let's not get on our high horses, we have high expectations and we want those expectations finally met. We all want the best for the club, we all want success.

Some in here get very emotional (me included), but I doubt there's anyone who doesn't want the club to be successful and to have wins like tonight.
It's the emotional aspect of the game that is so pleasant and sad at the same time.

Good win and a tip of the hat to Bevo.
Ed, Bont etc. will get the major kudos but some of the new blood Jacques, Sellwood etc. to the older heads Kennedy, Lobb etc. just a solid team performance to get the win.

I have to admit in the 3rd I thought it was going to be a repeat of our usual MO i.e. get maybe the lead but fade out and lose somewhere from 5 to 20 odd points. So I’m chuffed we got the win.

Also Daniel Duvnak-Zaknich (the guy needs a nickname because it’s a brain teaser trying to spell it right) and his team has improved our fitness levels again so kudos to them.

We still have things to work on goal kicking but it did improve as the game went on, positioning, communication etc.

It is one game so I’m not going to over sell it but hopefully this is a foundation for a new era at the dogs.

A famous Bulldog victory.

Our backs against the wall in the 3rd quarter. That was the pivotal moment to turn it around and we did late on to claw it back at 3qtr time. Loved that final quarter. Naughton really lifted.

Kennedy, Richards and Bont played well. Libba also just a legend. I was impressed with the debuts of Jacques and Sellwood they fought hard. A shame about Arty getting concussed. He brought a lot of great energy. Andrews will be in trouble for that surely.

Lobb had a great 200th game and I'm so glad we kept Buku really good down back.

Budarick a nice recruit.

Bailey Williams great movement and goal that was!

All in all a great first up performance and huge positives going forward into season 2026.

I’m not sure what the tv showed, but Kai Lohmann and Charlie Cameron carrying on to the crowd after a few cheap goals in the third and forth brought our mob to life. With the ‘Country Road’ bullshit and the Lohmann propaganda on the big screen, it was lovely to see our Doggy bad arses take care of business shortly after 😎

The team defence was as bad as it was at any point last year, but they found a way to win. Which ultimately is more important as Collingwood showed vibes will eventually trump logic if you do it often enough.

The average footy fan right now is about a year behind where Richards is a player. He has a genuine claim to being the best player in the league and has moved past Bont as of right now.

I loved English tonight, first time I have ever seen him get into someone’s face.
