It looked like it, especially when Arty went off. It's only a small sample size but I prefer Bramble in that role to probbaly anyone else on our list.
Baker can do it too but he's an aggressive 'metres gained' wing and we need to keep him there.
How good has Baker been since the end of last year. He was certain delist material mid last year. Now he’s a key cog giving us a point of difference we’ve been missing. Hope Busslinger gets some of what he was on.

Such an enjoyable thread to read the morning after, thank you all. I have only a few things to add:

To get some requisite long-memory-fuelled spite out of the way, Fagan's tight bitchy face resembling a cat's puckered arseh*le was such a beautiful contrast to his cheering of the Lions stealing Top 4 from us because of timekeeping cheating back in 2021. (Not the Lions fault, I know, and we got our revenge quickly, but they benefited massively from it then the next year they gave us 2/10 of f all for a star). That timekeeping **** up may have cost us a flag and I will not forget it.

Speaking of contrasts, while it has been mentioned myriad times in this thread, because of its potential impact this year it bears repeating: such a monumentally huge psychological step up for Pride n Predjudice-Chamomile Tea Timmy to morph into some 4chan shitstirring troll to give that pillock Fort what he deserved. MOAR pls. Feel the force, Timothy, and welcome to the Dark Side.

And finally, something I haven't yet seen mentioned, but, to me, was possibly the most emblematic. In the 2nd quarter, we were under seige and forced the ball out of our defensive 50. In other years that wuold have been scooped up by a free opposition player who had time and space to effortlessly dissect our disjointed defence and pass the ball off to an open man inside 50 for a shot at goal. But last night, West appeared on the right of screen from nowhere to grab the ball, saving what would have almost definitely been a goal. It was a small, unnoticable thing, granted, but to me it demonstrated the huge difference in our team-wide defensive intent and in tight games, those unheralded moments piled one atop another, are often the difference beetween frustration and ultimate glory.

Absolutely loved the controlled and directed aggression shown in the 4th but particularly the last 5 minutes. Guys getting into Gardner and Fort without giving away frees. Kennedy is so important for this, hard as nails.

First time in a long time we looked like we had actual pace and legs coming out of defence. Bravo to Dale, Bramble, Jaques and Budarick.

Also if Ed has space streaming down the wing or down the middle, wow. I’ll happily say I was wrong saying he isn’t a top 5 player, may be top 3!

If teams are going to let Williams have 5 shots on goal from the wing every week, they arent going to get off as lucky as the lions did. Ridiculous that his only goal came from setting up a lolly shop

I’m all for guys who can kick it 50 just having a ping at goals rather than try hit up 15-20m kicks. Truck, Bramble, Dale, Ed, Bont, Fridge etc…

It may be churlish to comment on a negative in such a fantastic win but we probably have to persevere with O'Donnell because the cupboard is bare for key defenders. He just appears to be unreliable and sometimes out of his depth. Fumbles, has difficulty picking the ball off the deck and is easily out-bodied. Is there any improvement in his game? Don't know, but it's necessary.

It's a common theme with Bevo trying to use third tall types as true keys, it does have some advantages when it comes to ground balls and rebounding but you obviously sacrifice a bit defensively, particularly in one on ones.

Ideally JOD plays the role that Khamis played last night and we get one (or two with Lobb being 34 before the start of next season) proper key defenders this off season. How long have we been saying that though?

Matt Kennedy 30 possessions too!!
Granted I'd had a couple throughout the game but after the siren without looking at the stats I had Kennedy as best on. In hindsight there were probably a couple better but something about his game just really stood out to me. He was brilliant.

Was it strategic letting them get out from kick-ins so easily to keep more pressure up the ground? It just seemed too easy for them to have not been. We scored 5 goals from kick-ins - not sure how
many they kicked but even though they were getting it out super easy it didn’t seem to end up in those out the back goals we are used to seeing.

Has to get a week minimum.

Any more weight behind that hit and he gets 8 weeks for breaking his jaw.
Just watched the replay and Andrews is in trouble. It wasn’t an accidental incident as he had a sighting glance at Arty over his right shoulder before throwing his left arm at his head. Andrews might be a nice bloke but I think he gets a suspension of several weeks.

At the ground, Bailey Williams goal was the turning point for mine. He was pumped and so were the rest of the boys after that. Good to see he has the confidence to take on half a dozen blokes. I hope he wins goal of the year.

The Brisbane players were dog shotting all night - harris Andrews on Arty, zac Bailey on sellwood and gardiner on naughton. There was one more ear massage but I can't remember who
Berry did one I believe.

Oh yeah that one was easy too miss. Your talking about when he got up from a tackle (could've been the aftermath of a marking contest) but elbowed a dogs player's face (I forgot who) to the ground in the process yeah?

Bevo addressed the umpiring/ 50 metres well in his presser. Players weren’t given a chance to even walk up to the mark before being told to stand. It’s way too harsh on the players.
It's way too big a penalty to pay for the offence.

Sure, if you throw a ball away or impede a player running past them 50m probably deserved.

Compared to moving 3 inches sideways on the mark.?

So, this morning I receive an email from the WB to access the coach's brief but the link goes straight to a Ticketmaster login. Yet another 'make it difficult for the member' initiative.

Same. Why does everything member related have to be done through bloody Ticketmaster? Just makes the member feel more removed from the club and like a number.

I thought Kennedy in the first half set the tone for the team - tough, uncompromising, focussed aggression. He is a real campaigner without the dirty hits and elbows that some resort to. A true hard man, not a faux tough guy like Toby Greene. I'd go to war with Mr Kennedy any time and I'm sure his team mates feel the same.

The moment I turned the sound right down was with 4 minutes to play in Q1.
The commentators went on and on about Brisbane doing what they liked. "Waltzing it out of defence", the Bulldogs have been so lucky...

4 Minutes to play in Q1. Brisbane had had exactly 3 scoring shots. 🙄

The answer seemed to be (on tv anyway) that the super high, aggressive press that has had its all pulling hair out for years has been pulled back.
Back your kicking skills and get it to 30-40 out from your own goals all you like, but then good luck.
We had genuine numbers back rather than high pressing with a sweeper.

Big adjustment which worked.

Tim being "on" from the first minute when he took a towering mark on the wing. So good.

I can live with Andrews' flinging arm (would honestly be surprised if he's got a week), but the 2 or 3 really snipey elbows (and a Neale swinging arm at Budarick in the last minute) were all filth and hopefully get highlighted during the week.

How good was it?! 🥳

On the ease of movement from kick-ins, I think we were deliberately giving them the wings. Bevo mentioned on Fox Footy that he was happy with how we prevented them from moving the ball through the corridor.

Yeah I think that forcing them wide was the right way to go, they could still pick their way through but it was significantly more difficult for them to move it despite them being able to clear defensive 50 from kick ins fairly easily.
