How many wins makes finals this year?

Ive just done OUR predictor for the year (yeh yeh im getting ahead of myself, whatever it took 2 minutes) and have us on 12 wins and i wasnt being uber conservative (ive got us beating Carlton twice which on current form is a coin toss).
To be fair, after yesterday it's time for the Jim Mora "playoffs" rant.

Perfectly said. He views it as him vs the media, which would be fine - but it's the only way supporters can find out what's going on. The media is asking the questions that we want to hear.
I've said it before on here, if I went to a club AGM I wouldn't ask about the finances, I'd ask the coaches why our key forwards all stand next to each other 70m from stoppage.

Put this together with Champion Data's closed shop on the real advanced stats, and footy fans are too often treated like sheep.

It’s Enrights gameplan is it not?

That’s the thing that looks like Jabba the hut out there.

Is it though?

This idea that Ross is somehow letting everyone else run the show, seems a little far fetched.

I struggle to see Ross as the type of individual to not have his fingerprints all over the plans. If he doesnt like them we wouldnt be doing it. Imo of course.

In reality, this playing group playing the way they are, and the soft style they have played in the last two games, will trouble very few sides, but might not lose by large margins. Lyon has been there since late 2022 in a move to arrest mediocrity that Bassat mentioned back then. Well we have treaded water since then, and it's now 2026 with two losses to start the season, so the mediocrity is looking to continue.

I’d argue if it was old Ross calling the shots. There would be some improvement. This new version and his kumbiyah bullshit isn’t working.

RE: Nas, Ross said "sometimes you've just got to let him drive the car"

Feels like confirmation that he's battling an injury and they're letting Nas decide what he can/can't handle in terms of time on ground and position.

"We'll take three goals from him". Just feels like the coaching staff are happy to get what they get, knowing he's limited and are letting him manage his own body on the field. Not sure I agree with that approach, but it felt like confirmation of what we are all noticing in terms of his performance.

He is injured.
Interesting take. I more thought that he’s communicating with NAS continually, like he did at the end of last year, and letting him do whatever he wants. I’m not sure I really like that tbh.

In a way I hope you are right but also it would be nice if he is not injured and he can be set to half back/ mid while resting occasionally at FF.

I can't believe anyone actually takes pressers seriously. It's a way to say as little as possible while backing your players. His messaging inside the inner sanctum during the review will be scorching. Coaches going off at the presser looks unprofessional and messy. Not the place for it.

Surely you give posters more credit than that! I am disappointed with his lack of transparency and honesty over more recent times. What does it hurt to say Nas has been restricted if that's the case.

He never wants to answer the obvious questions re his decisions - like not tagging Daicos the week before. The members and supporters deserve more than the drivel he has been trotting out.

Its like he will do any and everything to not answer a question and it's making him look like an absolute flog.

You dont really get to be flippant and arrogant when youre coaching a cellar dweller
Especially when it was the club itself that pumped up the expectation to boost the bottom line. Evading questioning to some very simple questions is not a good look for fans/members

One thing this club knows how to do, that is talk us up and then fail to deliver on any fronts.

I don't blame the players at all. The expectations placed on the players are just so immense that it's no wonder they crack at the sight of a football on game day.

The extra external pressure's placed on the players this year include
  • behind the scenes NETFLIX style documentary
  • full house game to start the season
  • constant requests to do Social media
  • Unrealistic expectations set by the management even before a ball is bounced
  • Media whipped into a frenzy by constantly talking us up
  • Success starved fan expectations
Good clubs don't need this type of talk, they do their talking on the field

It's going to be a long year.

Respectfully disagree.

It’s a chance for them to address the fanbase on what’s just happened.

JL made his thoughts clear which does little to exterminate how Freo fans are feeling dropping that. But it makes the point clear.

Watch Fagans. Talks to his views of the issues - which he thinks is that they just aren’t healthy. He doesn’t talk crap about what they should be. Just says they got found out Q1 because they had so many guys playing their first AFL games in sometime or ever.

They are happy to take each question. Give context.

How refreshing was Dimma making it clear where he stood on Mac Andrew?

Meanwhile we get the joke of an answer about why Nas was off and the deflection etc.

Just be better ffs. Represent us. Make us proud. You’re falling so ****ing short right now.

“Best Saints Ever”.

All I can muster is a HA!

One positive this year is the form of Windhager. Preseason and his two proper games have been top notch. He cleaned up a lot of mess yesterday with his superb touch. He made some horrible disposal look a lot less problematic. He'd be well inside the top 50 players in the comp on current form.

That’s good, but the totals ones are a bit meaningless when he has played twice as many games as most of th comp. Hopefully still like that at the end of the season.

Seeing the bench with a few minutes to go and TDK and NWM camped on it, just really makes me wonder what is happening behind the scenes.

Two multi million dollar players warming the bench with a game to be won... just WOW

TDK was puffed and couldn’t play.

NAS definitely has a knee injury - otherwise we would have him full time mid.

They arent saying "We are the best Saints ever"

It is the club goal is to become "the best saints ever"

That's ridiculous.

None of the current players will ever surpass any player from our 1966 team.

They won our first ever flag, that's pressure right there... our players can't event withstand the pressure of a game on a sunny Sunday afternoon.
