Autopsy Saints v Dees

He can still spend some time up forward. We need a bull in the midfield. A Dangerfield, Cripps, Fyfe type. He's the one.

Every time Mitch goes in there to ruck there's a different energy.
I think Boxshall is the one I want to see in more CBAs as that big contested mid who can also defend

Reported this morning we had several players come in with flu like symptoms, including TDK. Didn’t come from the saints apparently so must’ve been the players managers I guess.

Thought Wilkie didn’t look right at all movement wise, hopefully bounces back this week. GWS just got thumped, they’re gettable.
Can confirm true as I’m sick a a dawg

That's a very short negative list.

Id add box's miss on goal, higgo's snap from 5 metres, Wilkie, box, viking,, keeler, sinc's , dropped marks, Hill, sincs, viking, Flanders, naz miss kicks. Lots more i cant be bothered typing. It's been a long time since I have seen us **** up basic skills like that,. It wasn't just the whiping boys.
Not guarding the goal line on pickets goal was a shocker as well . So unprofessional.

We have had a problem getting up for games for over a decade now. You can literally tell within the first 5 minutes if we are on or off. It's a major problem.

It's not RTB's fault, it was ongoing with Richo and Ratten.

We have tried everything from meditation, theme songs to running out right before the bounce.

Time to strip it back and just focus on the football, the peripheral stuff just gets in the way
4 years in. His list.

I judge him.

Rightly or wrongly it all falls on the coach anyway, ultimate power, ultimate responsibility.

FWIW i did the full ladder predictor yesterday (and yeh means **** ALL right now) but i have us finishing 11th behind the pies on equal wins... That opening round loss could yet prove very very costly.

Were pretty clearly in the "maybe finals" group and by my reckoning thats 4 teams vying for 1 spot. The first two weeks losses could really ****ing bite us in the ass.

Very much up to a coach to motivate a team in any team sport- that's why top coaches who have this skill get huge money in big-ticket sports. It's probably a case of poor recruiting, and three coaches in Richo, Ratts and Lyon none of whom coached a premiership or really coach with a lot of flair.
Currently I think we are too process bound, and far too reactive when we should be pro-active, and probably one of the reasons Lyon didn't get us over the line in the GFs- too reliant on a system/ process to deliver, and too reluctant, too late, to let players have their head at times. So far we look to be a team with the yips if there's such a thing in footy- too much going on between the ears- dropped marks, fluffed kicks under no pressure, kicking blindly..all signs of double thinking going on.

That dribble kick of Carrolls was an example where he got caught in 2 minds between kicking longer or following the team ethos of "getting the ball to Naz"
It happened in front of me and you could see the conflict on his face.
Might take some time for us to learn to work with a star being tagged

Yep playing on a a wing or half forward is not his go, he is grunt monster that needs to be used as such.

I don't know what's happened to Lyon and his player positioning this season, he has got so much wrong its scary.

He may get a chance inside this week with Phillipou injured.

The spanner in the works for us is that sides like Melbourne and North look to have switched on. If a few more sides are competitive it makes even making 10 wins hard. I really only see WCEs as an absolute trash side this year. Everyone else is going to take being switched on.

That's true, but with our recruits adding depth and experience to our lineup, I'm expecting we can get more wins vs top 8 sides than 2025.

Last year you had a clear top 10 and a struggling bottom 8. Saints were one of the best of the bottom group.

Saints beat most of the bottom group but found tough going against the good group.

I'm expecting some of the good teams to drop off a bit (Collingwood, GWS, Geelong) while as you said, some bottom teams might be better than expected (North could easily be 5-1 after 6 rounds)

That just takes us back to usual programming and a more equal comp. Saints might get beaten more often by the bottom group (already have) but likewise we can nab more wins vs good teams- hopefully.

If we finish 11th its a huge fail for the year

I'm not a fan of the Nas just goes where he wants thing.

Takes 23 players working cohesively to win a game of footy.

That stuff creates divisions amongst the playing group..different rules for differing players is not good player managment.

Anyone's who's ever played any competitive sport knows that "if you cross the white line you're fit" is not true at all
Sure, but you’re saying you’re fitter than the next available player, and you’re opening yourself to have your injury targeted - which comes with saying you’re fit to play
