One of my many gripes with the AFL is the media pathways. If it isn’t nepotism it’s your trophy cabinet that invariably gets you a job.

The best players do not necessarily make the best commentators. Pretty bloody obvious I would have thought. Yet Riewoldt, Hawkins et al still get forced down our throats. It will be Dangerfield next.

A former player’s perspective is always going to be interesting. I would love to see more from players who had less remarkable careers.

Listening to former coaches is always way better. Of course there is less of them, and they’re usually much more higher profile. Listening to Adam Simpson and Ken Hinkley today on SEN was very good. Simpson is always good. I also enjoy Mick Malthouse on the ABC, Lethal on AW and years gone by Robert Walls and even Buckley was good.

When they properly drop they’ll have to do the early Brisbane rebuild thing and draft VIC Country kids because they won’t hang on to any Metro players while there not contending.

There were more people at the Whitten Oval today. Also I’m not convinced the crowd noises on Fox are real, or if they are then the microphones have been placed right near the GWS cheer squad.
