For the record do you believe Ryley Sanders's ceiling is as an A grade midfielder?

I'll go on record as believing a solid B grade midfielder is his ceiling.

Would I say NO to him becoming a Crow absolutely not but I would have limits on what draft capital and salary it took to land him.

I think Sanders is a pure inside mid being played on a half forward flank. Is he an A grader in that role, I'm not sure. Ceiling? I would say yes. Will he reach that ceiling? It's looking very doubtful.

Imagine Matt Crouch's career if he had played purely as a half forward for his first 4 years.

Not really. IMO he plays mostly in that role we used guys like Murphy in - the half forward that pushes up to the contest a bit.
Not really playing as a pure inside mid.

A grade mids are rarely available to trade for and if they are they either cost overs in salary cap or in draft capital.

You have to draft and develop one or trade them in before they are elite.

I agree.
A positive is that we saw some huge progress in Curtin’s game last year and by all accounts he had a massive pre season, primed for a big year - potentially transitioning in the midfield.
Hopefully he comes back fit and firing, like Filthy did post rehab and has a ripping remainder of the season.

Is it concerning that we haven’t seen anything from Draper yet though?
Yes, he’s been very unlucky with injuries..
It’s really irritating watching a lot of other players from his draft year really start to find there straps while he hasn’t been able to get his body right and cement a spot in our midfield.

It's why discussing Sander's worth at the moment is a waste of time - it could swing massively. If he steps into an inside mid role and plays well, he'll be worth a heap. But at the moment, a few years in, all he's shown is that he can be a low impact half forward role player.

I do recall where I missed a month leading into finals and prior to my return game being give a handful of capsules to take before a game, didn’t help me find the football, but I was ready to run home after the game
