Alex Carey was pretty forlorn getting his century yesterday. He proved to be the difference. What a knock. Back to back finals with a century.
forlorn? He didn't celebrate greatly 'cos the job was still there to be done, but I wouldn't describe him as forlorn. 'Reserved' is probably a better descriptor. Subdued, maybe.

OK, i'm just waffling now.

Unfair? Nonsense. If the home state doesn't want to play them it's in Australia's interest to fast track them in states that are lacking in that particular talent otherwise you end up with Redback sides who are uncompetitive for 30 years producing no test quality players.
Surely there is some bowling talent in your pathways that can be nurtured to first class level..

So you and others are admitting that your own state cant achieve what I wrote above. Why then have a pathways system at all. And prey tell why are Redback sides not producing competitive cricketers. You guys should be spitting chips over this and calling for SACA to lift its game.

30 years suggest there isn't. We did. They tried changing the grade system to less teams. Nothing changed.
For whatever reason the talent pool just can't compete with Victoria, WA, NSW and Queensland.
The population stats probably point the root cause.

Actually that is a better descriptor. Couldn’t think of a better word.
Reserved. That’s a better fit

He put up a pretty funny post on Instagram saying how ****ed sport is. And as a Carlton supporter and Oscar fan to then see the Vics crumble, can anyone blame him! All equally traumatic in their own way
Guess he’s used to his teams choking then.
Yikes

Yeah, I reckon SACA fans are feeling pretty sh*t right about now.

I actually thought the same, I would have called it a steely resolve. He got a standing ovation which he thoroughly deserved and I would imagine the beers taste pretty sweet now

I guess the only consolation for the Vics is that it’s possibly not the worst choke by a team wearing navy blue in the past 24 hours?
One meant nothing, careers should be ended by what happened here. Two batsmen with surnames beginning with “H”

No, this was definitely worse considering everything.

Lost it yesterday with the ball, terrible captaincy and then still could have stolen it but get another massive collapse.

It’s probably an indictment on Australian cricket that this Victorian batting lineup was so far on top at seasons end.

The bowling has been papering over the cracks at the Vics for a while

That's what you get when you keep selecting the same has beens and never weres in the batting order and expect them to suddenly learn how to defend their wicket.

Start playing some of the young emerging bats who are making big scores in the Victorian Premier League - Kellaway and Brasher were a start (although Brash should be lower in the batting order until he establishes himself), but what about the Casey captain who makes centuries for fun, or the young opener from Footscray who looks to have a very bright future ahead of him. Both would be better to get some experience into ahead of Harris and Handscomb.

After missing the BBL.
Great to see Thornton with big wickets
Run away train

How sweet a win this is! That’ll stick it right up that ridiculously biased fapping commentary team they had on the game coverage for 5 days too!

Something has to be done about Kayo Shield commentary. It is more vic biased than the AFL and that’s saying something. Unwatchable at times. Just call the ****ing game without barracking.

I am still basking in the fact SA have won it. First time SA has been back-to-back in the competition's history. Last year was more a case of a solid team performance all season, whereas this year we were forever being rescued by individual performances. Still disappointed in our batting, Victoria can say the same, great to see Carey reach his potential with the bat, and Nathan McAndrew was great. Raising a glass to the SA team, well done.
