5 pre-seasons but how many matches?

PS doesn't hold a candle on playing AFL football. He'll build match fitness the more games he plays at the top level.
What?
McAndrew didn't come through the VFL, SANFL, WAFL as a mature ager he's been a full time AFL footballer for 5 years at the Swans/Crows training/recovering 4 or 5 days a week at least and playing lead ruck in the VFL/SANFL which entails a pretty heavy workload as well. Maybe marginal improvement in his endurance is possible but I highly doubt it will have a major impact on his tank....this is not some 18 year old kid coming in off U18's this is a 25 year old that has trained at AFL level for 5 years.

Borlase is one of the better depth last resort KPDs in the comp when you compare lists, he'll fill a hole for two games. May not even need to have him against the Blues considering they have about 16 small forwards on their list and Harry McKay.

It certainly means don't keep your current structure though, under any circumstances

It also doesn't mean you throw everything out. It's clear the problems are elsewhere, in particular, the half back flank.

Keane managed to offer rebound even with a direct opponent.

We shouldn't sell Worrell short for the sake of maintaining a structure that isn't working and to bring in a depth player

Tex on being managed last week:

"The main reason was we had back-to-back six day breaks, and then after Fremantle we’ve got another six day break,” Walker said.

“So we wanted to look after the old body and not have three six day breaks in a month, so just trying to keep the end (of the season) in mind.

“We just wanted to be a bit more smart and pro-active with it. In the past couple of years we’ve had the luxury of being more reactive in making the decision on how I pulled up from games.

“We were keen to get on the front foot with it this year.”

Is it true our record is 1-5 against Freo lately? How many at home.

What concerns me is we will do nothing to stop Serong and Brayshaw again, they’ll feed their talls, we won’t be able to move the ball out of defence and we will lose again. Sound familiar?

I don’t care what has happened prior to Nicks, he is the current coach.
I couldn't agree more. The AFC is well beyond Craig and Sanderson and has to let go of any what-might-have-beens from the terrible Walsh tragedy. The lists of Umpiring decisions which have gone against us have created tension and angst. I understand people are upset, but that was then and cannot be changed.

We have to deal with the now, keeping an eye on the last couple of years to guide how we assess Nicks.

No question Nicks started behind the 8-ball because our group had been badly affected and fractured by the 2017GF loss, that headfkd Camp and the fall-out in 2018/19
+ he started with Assistants not of his choosing.
I think he showed nerve and patience to work through 2020/21/22 and he's done a lot for group unity and culture.

However, a fuzzy-warm-Kumbaya-vibe does not win Flags.
It's his seventh year, ffs :grimacing:  --- and he's still stuck in the ruts of his own inflexibility, lack of flair, Selection confusion and an adherence to defence-defence-defence which is holding back our players.
Now they have just had another comment on First Crack re : coaches box. Scott made 5 moves in the last, Nicks changed nothing. He kept the same 4 midfielders - Soligo, Peatling, Berry and Rachele
That's Nicks up, down and sideways. NO-CHANGE-Nicks. No experimentation.
No left-of-field ideas. No imagination.
Remember when Michalanney went forward last year (was it vs. Richmond)? WOW, I thought. A change!
Something different.
Never repeated.
- each were rated in the 40’s out of the 46 in the last quarter.
I'm not familiar with that metric. What does it mean, please?
Either Nicks is stupid, stubborn or both.
Definitely stubborn, but he's not under-intelligent-stupid.
He is footy-stupid, though.
Worse, he seems not to learn from his mistakes and repeats decisions/tactics/selections which do not work.
Mix it up - put Rankine in the midfield or even Thilthorpe. FFS, do something different.
YES!!
PLEASE.
We play Freo, Carlton and Saints in the next 3 and we likely win all 3 and the last two probably comfortably which means he won’t change a thing.
I dunno. Freo is not a gimme, but Carlton will be a Crows mega-win @ home (unless they undergo some kind of radical transformation --- seriously, they're a basket case, losing so many games from 6/7/8 goals up, wtf?).
Saints AWAY, I dunno; probable win but I won't be surprised if we're 2-4 after 6 games.
Just disappointed, but I am used to it :(.
Nicks will be able to blame injuries/ underdone players from interrupted pre-season/ players not executing his foolproof plans :rolleyes:/ 6-day breaks and so on.

It's anybody's fault/responsibility, but his.
I have never heard him admit to a Coaching error or hold himself accountable.

3 games is a small sample size.
Some 2026 Crows ball movement stats.

D50 to F50 ranked 18th
D50 to score 16th
DHalf to F50 16th
Score source from kick in 18th
Score origin from centre bounce 17th
Minor Premiers 2025 ==> these shit numbers in 2026.

Appalling.

Surely as the resident underage expert you'd know there is a substantial difference between reserves level football and AFL.

I'm no expert on anything but I do know any 25 year old that's been on an AFL list for 5 years as in training/recovery with the full Swans/Crows AFL squad over that period has very limited possibilities to make much impact on his endurance at this point in time or going forward. McAndrew's led the ruck at VFL/SANFL level for most of that period and that is a quite heavy workload in itself.

Given the latest injury report, I would go

Out: Butts (concussion), Jones, Bond, Maley
In: Borlase, Dawson, Hinge, Walker

B
Borlase - Murray - Michalanney
HB Hinge - Worrell - Milera

R McAndrew - Dawson - Rachele
C Cumming - Berry - Cook

HF Rankine - Thilthorpe - Neal-Bullen
F Taylor - Fogarty - Walker

I Soligo - Peatling - Keays - Nankervis - Pedlar

Yeah agreed but they'll find a way to bring in Laird and possibly ROB too by the sounds of things.
Nank and Pedlar in the firing line
