Not holding my breath on return to play timeline.

A proper conditioning block would need to be 4-6 weeks wouldn't it? Putting proper stress under load.

He'd need to be doing 10km running sessions and a fortnight of full training before they decide to select him.

If he gets through that, just put him straight in the seniors on limited minutes. Or just stand in the square and stick ya hands up ffs.

According to David King, Cornes & Morris today.

Max King is carrying a Calf, Groin & Hamstring issues.

At least they didnt mention the knee, lol

April Fools joke?

Look on the bright side, at least his shoulder is OK.

On the contrary, they might avoid 'running' with King altogether. He might go the Shaun Burgoyne route, where they conceded that running will just aggravate soft-tissue injuries. Maybe King will become a player who doesn't run much, if that makes sense.

Also, I gotta say I don't think King's presence would do much for us unless we change our method of forward entries. When indiscriminately bombing it long to a pack, King isn't going to make much difference compared to what we already have.

Now if he is isolated one on one and that also means that Sharman and Owens are up against the second and third defenders, with everyone leading and using space in a coherent manner then we could be dangerous. Add in Higgins, Ryan, Hall and Nas as goal scoring threats and the forward to ine could be very potent with some thoughtful delivery. But I think Lyon truly believes in the bomb it deep and lock it in ideology.

What were we bemoaning when King was playing his last games? Constantly bombing it long to King. I'm guessing that's exactly what we'll resume doing if he ever makes it back.
Spot on with this. This is one of the reasons that we actually performed better as a team without King in the side in the past few years, because we were forced to look for other options. The presence of King gives an easy out for the players. There needs to be a mix of entries so teams don't sit back on us.

He doesn’t have match fitness.

He has been doing plenty of running - both at the club and away from the club.

There is a fair bit of information that hasn’t been public about Max in hope to protect him.

And if he just creates a contest and brings the ball to ground initially that also ok.

It may not be as long as we think just looking at ToG %s, should play a couple vfl and may slot in after that

We played 5 players around 60% game time. He could come in at 50% and bump a few others up and have a real crack if we keep him deep forward

Really good point. We can probably ease him into the AFL side when he's ready.

Do you mean he is more advanced with his fitness than is known publicly?

What do you mean by that?
How close he has been to “fully fit” and his return.

It’s probably accurate to say he is further ahead than the clubs reports. They have a timeline aswell.

They just haven’t been willing to share publicly.

Apparently he has now sustained a Maxilla Follicular injury, although he and the club are keeping quiet about it in order to save face.

Is that any better than what we're getting from Marshall right now? He's contributing nothing offensively but he's not getting outmarked.

Point is, Marshall isn’t doing it right now.
King has far more to offer if he can get back fit.
I didn’t mean that standing there bringing it to ground is all he should be doing, but it certainly is part of it. Thats why I said “initially.”
And tbh, I know it’s a long time ago now, but Max’s goal kicking had improved and I’m never certain about what we’re going to get from Roma.
