Gotta say I loved Darcy having that ball from ROB fall in his lap and watching him just charge forward like a midfielder and put it on the boot. Was magic and much better than if he’d pushed back and gone slowly.
Honestly my biggest pet peeve with Jackson in the center when he gets a clearance and has 10 meters of open space but goes and looks for a stupid handball. I reckon it’s cost us quite a bit this year. Needs to learn to go forward

Some are hard to please.

We’re 3-1 and shown in each game that we can dominate. Our best has arguably been as good as any team this year.

I’m enjoying our brand with the knowledge we have enormous growth potential.

When Adelaide started their run it did feel like they got every bounce and umpire call. That can happen.

Reid is phenomenal. Him and Shai giving us that little bit of class and X factor in our front half is awesome.

Enjoy the ride. The season is long. We’re banking points.

But also saved shitloads through good solid one one one blanket defending on one of the best, hardest to match up on big forwards in the game and provided dash when we went into our shells.

No he was lax in his coverage of the big fella. Tell me what happened when Riley was running into goal and missed the lot from outside fifty? Tell me what happened when Riley marked unopposed and passed to Tex for the goal? Go and watch, I am not asking for greatness just not stupid mistakes that would have others calling for people to be dropped.

He admitted he cost us one in the post game interview with Kath. He cost us two of the six directly by very poor play.

Then he did a lot of good play and one great play.

I would give timestamps but even with them most people wont admit it for some reason.

He was gassed through the fourth and nervy and cost us in the third.

Brilliant with the smother.

My last quarter take out was “Duddles” his work to feed it out was “HUGE”.

Re: Switta - Anyone else think his head knock history might be impacting his game?

Not sure on the head knock. Maybe. But hopefully just an impact to his preparation rather than anything permanent. He's taken a while to get going, but finally seemed to find his mojo in the last quarter when it mattered.

Agree except we handed them most of the run on.

  • Voss miss
  • Jom miss
  • Pearce kick from a mark that missed the team mate by ten metres at chb - an achievement considering the kick was 20m
  • Pearce starting three metres off Riley. Mark taken a mile in front and Pearce barely ran. Goal Tex.

There were a lot of balls that bounced their way, but, we opened the door again and again.

So many times through the game Pearce came in with a big fist or a spoil, and Thilthorpe, who often dominates, was unsighted for an entire half. Every (non-Docker) Adelaide game I’ve watched, Thilthorpe’s been very prominent; he was a shadow of his usual self this game. Pearce was huge.

Funny you say that, because I was just checking Wheelo and couldn't believe their player ratings have Thilthorpe as the #1 rated player on the ground and #2 overall of the 3 matches so far this round.

On a related note, Wheelo has Jackson as Freo's best. Same with Supercoach where Jackson was #1 on the ground. Be interesting to see if he gets any coaches votes. Don't think he is getting anything on the fan votes thread (similar to last week).

The vendetta from one of the prominent posters on here towards Alex Pearce is starting to become farcical now.
Guy steps up in the most clutch moment imaginable to win us the game (not for the first time either by the way) and he’s getting potted for being “yards off his man” while picking up one of the games top key forwards in Thilthorpe.
What are we expecting here? Him to keep Thilthorpe to 0 goals, 0 touches and 0 score involvements?

Did Stephen Silvagni or Matthew Scarlett ever concede a goal to an opposition forward?

I think Pearce is not far off the level Alex Rance was at for Richmond when they were at their peak to be honest.

McAndrew obliterated Jackson in the ruck and aerially but got worn down as the match went on, Jackson was obviously better at ground level and in transition. Darcy did a much better job directing the taps by bullying O’Reilly out the way. I was hoping to see more of Darcy vs. McAndrew as the game went on.

The playing of Jackson and Darcy, pushing Adelaide to play the two rucks, probably contributed to Freo winning that game - not because Darcy was dominant, but because Adelaide didn't have an extra running rotation on the bench to out work us.

Sure, their young ruck would have been spent by the 4th against both of our rucks but maybe their running power would have had them up enough to hold on.

If we can keep pressuring clubs with selection to play a big lumbering ruck extra then it might start us off ahead before the game even starts.

Re: Switta - Anyone else think his head knock history might be impacting his game?

I think Reid is playing his role up field, taking his moments and minutes.

It was a great gutsy win but we have a few passengers that need to be upgraded to become a real contender.

  • weekly reminder of Karl Worners cat 10s, he’s just another Ethan Hughes really.
  • JOM and that miss. No words. Just unthinkable to miss from there.
  • don’t think we can carry Scerri and Switta and probably need an upgrade to come in soonish for one, likely Scerri.

Murphy Reid was amazing. Treacy and Bolton too. Shout out to Amiss as well.
Finally some matchwinners in attack.

So in the first half when we were dominant he barely touched it? Then in the second when their midfield evened up with us he was strong. Finished with 15 disposals and set up a few goals.

I have to believe its driven from his play onball, not anything to do with up forward where he was destroyed.

Worth noting Wheelo had Jack Ross has the best player on the ground last week. It does some weird things, even if it seems mostly accurate.

When we look back on the Adelaide game at the end of the season, it was a huge win because

A. Our final ladder position.

B. We showed massive resilience, maturity, calm under pressure and problem solving skills in the last quarter when Adelaide came extremely hard at us.

C. Winning away from home in a hostile environment (Adelaide Oval).

D. Finals preparation, it felt like a finals game in the second half.

E. Game saving acts from Moose, Switta and Cox.

Enjoy the rest of the Easter long weekend Dockers family 🐰

We still gave them 3 looks to kick a goal in the last 90 seconds with two of them due to just the old "kick it to the large pack" after a point. Can't we come up with some set plays to retain the ball in those situations, can understand that's what you do when you are behind but when you are in front why keep just kicking to a big pack.

He isn't being called out for being yards off, he was miles off and didn't run. Watch the play.

Tell me which of the massive errors I called out were wrong? Go watch the tape.

People will say that JOM missing, Voss missing or Worner Cat 10's are bad and then say nothing about Pearce. He admitted the one massive error in his interview with Kath. That cost us the second goal of their run on. I don't understand the people who call that a vendetta.

Explain, based on the words I used and the plays I mentioned, which one's were wrong. Hinkley called him out for slack marking btw. He got out marked in another on a hard lead and his manning up was phenomenal. Excellent defensive play and was beaten. Notice I am not saying anything about that and have called it excellent. Because it was and it shouldn't count against him.

So to be clear, they got a run on and Pearce commits a horrible error under zero pressure, costs a goal. He brought this up with Kath. Do he and I both have a Vendetta against him?

He was miles off Riley and it cost us a goal. Hinkley called it out. Also a Vendetta?

Then there was the time Riley finished with it running into 50 unmarked. Look at the tape, where was Pearce. He didn't make the previous marking contest. Watch it. Where was he?

Now he also made a brilliant smother play that stopped a goal or point and was HUGE.

Sounds like a massive vendetta to me.

Great valuable win.

Alex when fit is a great defender, still not convinced he is captain material, thought he was almost crying after the siren.

Can someone tell Vossy to relax just a touch when lining up for goal, getting too stiff and tense, Just kik it naturally

Chappy finally came good.

Murphy and Isiah are very important to this team, Jonno and Raz gradually getting better.

Give Switta another week, I think he will find his touch soon.

O'Meara, how the f**k could you miss that.

JL, what was it , seven unanswered, why do we suddenly start getting smashed in the middle, not the first time, needs to be addressed yesterday.
