Kyabram v Echuca will be match of the round under lights at Ky Rec, and interested to see who wins out of the cats and united.
Seymour, Rochester, Mansfield to win easily
Swans to push the Bears with their run, but Bears will hold steady and win

The only future business I can see Echuca having with the GVL , is around the building of information to appeal GVL’s rejection of their application to join the BFL which is suspected to be forthcoming coming .
Based on comments from Echuca President and Moama president in an article in Bendigo Addy today about what’s next in BFNL both Echuca and Moama likely to remain where they are for 2027.

Moama want to see what the changes in junior age groups does for them.

Echuca saying along the lines of with no home ground and all the logistics of moving home games and all that they don’t feel they have the time to go through the process well enough before the June 30 deadline. They want to go to some BFNL games and sus things out and have a proper whole club vote etc but they don’t think they can get it done by June 30.

I obviously follow BFNL footy but do keep an eye on GV. I would love Echuca and Moama to come to BFNL.

And without knowing all the ins and outs of GV I think the league would be fine without Echuca. Any league would want to get or keep a club like them!

Absolutely. Should already be a done deal if it is universally accepted that Echuca are gone. Will be interesting to see if Moama then retain their good juniors who look to defect to Echuca for 1 more year of junior age football with the move to Under 18 footy in GVL.
Murray league going to under 18 so won’t make a difference. It’s the standard of footy those kids are chasing not necessarily the age group.

I noted two of Simon McCarty's boys (Rochester legend) running around in the Under 18's for Echuca last Saturday. Moved over from Moama ... if Moama had 18's would they have switched?

Murray are also planning on going to u15’s to avoid issues with the minimum age rule , naturally enough.
Mothers will move their 15 year olds to u16 or u17 comps to avoid their kids playing with 18 year olds who can legally drink , go to pubs , drive.
Kids will also go off to uni etc without having transitioned into open age football and more will give up once they finish u18’s .
Most kids who are going to play a lot of senior Murray league footy will be playing seniors at 18 not still in junior footy

We should be talking more about legends like S man Mcarty and Gvl footy instead of what Echuca’s going or not going to do if they go they go it won’t be the end of the GVFL

The footy factory maxing out their points again. More funding needed in the Reid academy to produce more 1pt players.
I’ve been privy to some of the letters of threat as such, that are being exchanged amongst the junior club .
Written by a solicitor or not its disgusting bullying behaviour , they keep it up and kids will be flocking to Moama or United .

Do you reckon they are about where they should be on the ladder then just below the top 4 or 5 teams?
Looking at the results yesterday who can challenge Echuca? I don't think anyone can.

Mansfield lost to Benalla so I'm not sure they are up to Echuca

people saying Ky not ass good as they should be and would be disappointed to lose last night and considering Echuca only get stronger

Rochy had a slow start to the season and look nothing like last year at the moment

Seymour are ok

Shep Bears but they have had a cruisy start to the year.

I'm going early but really who is playing for second this year is the feeling I'm getting.

Yes. Murray League under 18’s is just at best. They have a lot of close mates at Echuca. Great kids.

MFL is u17’s.
Despite multiple grades within age groups , excessive thirds numbers, 3rds premiers in 2024 and 3rd in 2025. 3 kids who came straight out of the ‘just’ at best ‘ comp played Echuca seniors yesterday , that beat the reigning premiers . 2 of those were out of a side in the ‘just at best’ comp, that hasn’t finished higher than 5th in last two years .

So who are the challengers for Echuca you reckon Swoop? Shepparton definitely. Seymour? I thought Mansfield but obviously a lack of depth there.
Echuca obviously once again the side to beat pretty scary winning games with so many players to come back in that side
Your right with Mansfield lack of depth could cost them dearly I see 2 of the Mahoney boys back with Collingwood vfl and Kelly also missing .Rochy missing some good players also they need the 2 Hamiltons and Hore back to compete with with the top sides .Seymour travelling quit well Very impressed with Shepp got great speed and ball carry with a gun ruckman Kyabram obviously not quite up to last years standard but could easily turn it around wouldn’t write them off
