Absolutely loved his work today.

Just needs to focus on timing his leaps better. There were few occasions where he mistimed his jump and was already on his way down as the ball reached his maximum height.
Not really timing. He goes a bit early because he hangs in the air a bit longer off the other ruck. If the other ruck avoids contact, it looks like he's gone a bit early. Pittonet did it a few times too. Nothing to worry about. He's going to win most of them against a ruck doing that.

Even with his hang time, he still completely misses making contact with the ball even if the other ruckman is no where near it.

He needs to adjust his leap timing and account for his hang time.

Another solid game for Steene today. A bit concerned about his disposal as he seemed to shit the bed.
Not super bad considering it was only his 5th game and was playing in front of 90,000

How he moves when he goes forward as well he presents up at the footy like an old school key forward not like a resting ruckman
Casts my mind back to the days when our footy firsts would strut their stuff on the school oval and we students would get class off to watch. In my junior coaching days, as often as not the best full forward also happened to be the most effective first ruck. Either way your description is interesting, though other than the centre and boundary contests, I have only ever really seen Steen at work in the goal square area.

What surprises me is how strong he looks in the torso and shoulders. When the season started, I never expected this guy would jump the queue so quickly to become a dominant center bounce ruckman as well as a menacing presence up forward. His taps and knocks to Daicos are sublimely executed. We have actually found a few young guys who could be B/B+ players. Neither the present or fruture seem so bleak after all.

His connection with our on-ballers at the centre clearance is becoming a real weapon
He has a great leap and what,s more he knows where to palm to and Nick is able to read it and to get first look at the ball is something you dream of. It puts you on the front foot at the start and means you are not constantly chasing the ball.

The club has seen his leap from early in his first season and we have seen him jumping at the ball going for high marks virtually from day 1 I think the last time we had a high flyer for a ruckman was Peter Moore.

I am not saying he is another Peter Moore because Peter was the best ruck forward we ever had but Oscar certainly has some Peter Moore traits and it is fantastic to see.

please, PLEASE, start him in the middle tonight and for the start of every qtr for at least the first 5-10 minutes,
and if we happen to get a run on through his tap work in the middle, dont take the foot off the throat and rest him.

thats all im asking for

This is like being short on a basketball roster with rotations. We need to just put our best in the mix tonight as much as we can.

Load up the midfield centre clearances with Steene and Daics and the next best

Someeone mentioned hope hes tough enough.

He doesnt seem timid at all hey. Those contested marks he takes take a lot of belief and strength. Few hits he has copped he gets straight back up

Fast becoming one of my faves.

Thought he did a Really Good Game again tonight

Sadly does not have the Midfield to take much Advantage of it

Well Cameron has not been Crash Hot this year Really
No, but the support he proves Oscar so he doesn't have to get bashed up is huge until Oscar is physically ready for that
If DC is out for a few weeks, it'll be a big task and he'll need help from somewhere.

Buller to second ruck maybe?

100%. We need Cameron. Hope he comes up. Fly said ankle in the press conference

Cameron and Steene are a pair. They improve each other. With Cameron injured having games into Steene is so good. Steene is having really good moments in games. May improvement and consistency develop. So good and great attitude. Hopefully Fly keeps playing him, he is a winner.

Cameron is massive in contested marking at get out points for us. Steene combines so well with him.

Think we have a fantastic duo for next few years.
