Echuca obviously once again the side to beat pretty scary winning games with so many players to come back in that side
Your right with Mansfield lack of depth could cost them dearly I see 2 of the Mahoney boys back with Collingwood vfl and Kelly also missing .Rochy missing some good players also they need the 2 Hamiltons and Hore back to compete with with the top sides .Seymour travelling quit well Very impressed with Shepp got great speed and ball carry with a gun ruckman Kyabram obviously not quite up to last years standard but could easily turn it around wouldn’t write them off
Both Mahoney boys played Saturday night against Benalla.
Will Kelly is out for the year from all reports.

MFL is u17’s.
Despite multiple grades within age groups , excessive thirds numbers, 3rds premiers in 2024 and 3rd in 2025. 3 kids who came straight out of the ‘just’ at best ‘ comp played Echuca seniors yesterday , that beat the reigning premiers . 2 of those were out of a side in the ‘just at best’ comp, that hasn’t finished higher than 5th in last two years .
You need to get some facts pretty straight regarding your comment about “solicitors letters” and what you are implying here. It’s wrong, it’s devious and devoid of the truth. I would think you should stick to your own side of the fence when it comes to matters at clubs that you have little to no context around what you are implying. Be better, but most of all know what you are taking about rather than posting crap like that.

I’m hearing there is an in depth article concerning country football about to land today …will be significant t
Article in the age on salary caps and how no one is abiding by it.

The sad thing is, everything in it is already common knowledge. AFL Vic just don’t give a stuff. Heads couldn’t be buried any further in the sand, and I’d say the article won’t even be a blip on their radar.

The system is reliant on “whistleblowers “

So Echuca are short priced favorites for the flag.....? Imagine what they will do in the Bendigo league!

Destruction is a word that springs to mind
Yes Echuca coming into to Bendigo would result in big gap between then and the rest straight away. But let’s not be so narrow sighted.

Does nobody else think that if Echuca went to Bendigo it would force the BFNL clubs to get better?

I do.

if the BFNL is to improve in standing and once again push to be one of the best leagues in regional Victoria then it needs to challenged.

Broadly speaking GV footy is tough. GV is contested, tough and physical brand of footy played with a physical intensity BFNL doesn’t have.
BFNL teams are outside teams, fast powerful running teams who want the ball outside and moving with speed.

Put Echuca in BFNL and Bendigo teams have to get tougher have to improve the inside contested part of the game and Echuca would need to adjust to the outside game a touch which if they did they would be unfairly good!

Anyway don’t look like Echuca will be going anywhere till 2028 so might as well add a couple more GV flags to list

Agree with all of what you have written. The question is - why do Bendigo League clubs need Echuca to come in to make them get better. Just get on and do it now.

I’ve seen the letters , no guessing , no implying and not devoid of the truth .
I’d suggest the fact those receiving them view them as disgraceful bullying behaviour is the reason they are being broadcast everywhere. .

I’ve said it before but any league would love to get or keep a club like Echuca.

I would also say Bendigo clubs are getting on with it and are working to improve. The standard of footy already this year in BFNL is better.

South Bendigo have built on what they did last year and added some very nice pieces. 2 mids from QLD are serious players plus James Frawley will qualify for finals at least that’s the plan

Eaglehawk topped up their Premiership winning list with a gun ruckman and a few players returning one of which is a league medallist

Strath gone and got a new coach this season with years of State League experience and topped up their list with 3 VFL listed players

Castlemaine are having a good crack signing one of the best players in local footy in Dylan Landt along with Zak Derksen and ex Richmond AFL player Jacob Bauer

BFNL still has issues to work through but I think there is a good feeling at the minute around the league. Got a big refresh in leadership with new chair and I think around half the board is new.

Reality is Echuca will not be changing leagues until at least 2028.

I have said it, and will say it again. I doubt they they are going but if they they do ... bon voyage!

Redact the names …post the letter for all to see and then context can be provided. Stick to your own lane…otherwise until you do it your comments are worthless.

Players have trained at Echuca juniors on the understanding they could play at a club on the Saturday ( via ongoing permit system or where not needed ) and then play for Echuca in the junior league on a Sunday , as they have in the past .
Often these kids have trained at other clubs all pre season and trained weekly at those clubs .
Numerous heavy handed letters have now been sent to parents to the effect that on signing a rego to Echuca juniors they agreed to a new previously undisclosed rule that players must weekly request permission to play elsewhere on a Saturday , Echuca has full control and that they’ll only be told two days prior , if they can or can’t play .
To say the tone and consistency of letters have upset parents is an understatement , including contacting various government agency .
Kids in future will just move to Echuca United or Moama who allow them to play at their chosen community club and play in the junior footy league.

This is where you are wrong. Echuca have had a rule that in junior football if you play Sat with another club eg in the Picola league then you cannot play in Sunday with Echuca. This rule has been the case for 2 seasons now. The reason for this is that some kids who play on a Sunday with Echucacare missing out on a game when others play at a other club in the Picola league and get to play 2 games while another Echuca child potentially misses out on a game. The club has this rule as per Football Vic guidelines that recommend kids under 18 don’t play 25 games or more in a season. This was explained to all parents before the season started but a couple got caught out trying to go against this rule. In other words chose to ignore it. The club dealt with it with some letters to those parents who wanted to go around the rules. In regard to the solicitors letters …they came via an email from a club official who works at a solicitors office, but you chose to dramatise that and make it sound worse that it actually is. Echuca have also said that if those kids want to go play in the Picola league that’s fine but they can’t also play with them on the Sunday. Like I said, stop muck racking in a space you have no idea of the context of this situation. Rules are rules and were made quite clear except for a couple parents who wanted to have a foot in both camps. A strong club follows up on the rules it sets. Now jog on.

if this were the case .

Can you explain why a kid played over 30 games across two clubs last year , including the final game for Echuca juniors ?

Rule wasn’t in place ?

Club didn’t follow up on the rule ?

It’s dead obvious who wrote the letter and parents have enquired and confirmed .

The “kid” who played that many games was managed by his own club with regard to minutes played and not played during games to cater for rep footy etc they were playing.in modern terms…he was managed. If playing for another club outside your own you can’t have any control over the minutes they play or don’t play. Think you better keep sticking in your own lane….again you are devoid of the facts. On your point about the parents….they knew the rules but chose not to follow them and got caught. They have a choice…stick by the rules the club set in place 2 years ago or go play elsewhere.

So the rules were bent last year or has there been a change in the rule ?

There were multiple kids and they played in clubs aside from Echuca , where they played full games and Echuca had no control .
If the parents knew they wouldn’t be so irrate .
You are right kids can chose to go elsewhere, which was my initial point and I suspect Moama and United will be benefactors .

As for no facts 😂 😂

Not too sure the club is worried about losing parents of kids who don’t want to follow the rules that were clearly explained to them. Moama and United might just gain some parents that becomes another clubs issue. Thats fact.
