Was thinking about posting this one under stats but some interesting figures here.

Needs a few footnotes to identify who counts as a mid, who a mid-forward and who a general forward. I'm guessing they think Heeney is a mid-forward, despite mostly being a mid who just pushes forward sometimes (as opposed to starting in the forward line). Chad probably is a true mid-forward since he often starts in the forward line. Papley? Do his centre bounce (or throw up) attendances turn him into a mid-forward.

Petracca? Pickett? Jordon?

You can check this from either official AFL website stats or Wheelo

On The Agenda Setters last night, Daisy Thomas said he is "Buying Stock" in the Swans. He listed the following stats:
  • Scored 100+ points in 6/7 games
  • Won I50 count in every game
  • Won Tackles I50 in 6/7 games
  • Won Marks I50 in 6/7 games
And he had a go at Kane Cornes for bagging Curnow the other week 🙂.

That whole segment is so cringe, but it's good that at least one of the pundits on there recognises game at least 😅

I don't mind it but it should only be used for decisions that directly impact the score. Givd them 30 seconds to call it back if they find something that would have altered the score. Also upgrade the damn cameras.

Don't use it for anything else. If we're going to accept the umps butchering holding the ball or incorrect disposal then we don't need to be reviewing boundary line decisions to get them correct.

And not while the tech doesn't exist.

So it’s based on some pre-assigned designation rather than where players actually line up in any given game?
I believe it is informed by positional data over time, and it does change for specific players - Heeney has been a Mid-forward, a General Forward and a Midfielder at different times since 2019, and Lloyd shifted from General defender to Midfielder in 2024 and he's currently logged as a General Forward.

However I think for practical reasons, positions are only logged by how it looks at stoppages and it takes a bit of time for reassignments to occur. I assume there's also some reference either to height or marking data or both, to differentiate general defenders and forwards from key defenders and forwards.

Fox Footy gave Logan McDonald a whack as our most "overpaid" player.

I haven't rated McDonald's season to date, but imagine being a pundit for Fox Footy - or any footy media organisation - and having the nerve to use the word "overpaid."
