Roo rarely shows his colours but that moment after the Soligo review when Rankine kicked at goal, with the ball in flight, and he said "review that!" was pretty sweet. We were all thinking it. It was nice to hear him say it.

Ironically the soligo goal review kind of won us the game. That pretty much became a 7 point play if I remember correctly.

Port robbed by umpires

I also wonder if the Milera goal reversal saved us from choking the game trying to hold the lead instead of forcing us to attack in the last 30 seconds

Both Channel 7 and Fox Footy have done a Bulldogs v Freo in-the-rooms post game.

None for the Showdown. Went straight to a replay of golf.

What a league.
They can't acknowledge that this is the best rivalry in footy, despite all of the evidence proving it to be.

Super suspect that we always get done with these random free kick calls that never get called.

How often does running too far get called? Once a month, maybe? Same with push in the goal square. Never gets called.

It’s almost like the umpires are looking deep into the rule book to see what they can use to ping the crows on. Both instances were wrong but super concerning that it’s not the standard ‘arm chop’, or ‘no prior’ etc.

Milera deserves another shout out and really should have won the medal.

Amazing in the backline and kicked the real sealer. But after watching the last 20 seconds… he collects the ball, is tackled, and was able to withstand the tackle and get the outlet to Curtin in a dangerous position. Really did it all.

Milera and cook. Cook and milera. I've always liked cook but man has he gone to another level in a very short space of time. To the point you want him taking that shot for goal all day.

And Milera has been a bit of a whipping boy in here but he's been all class and he's in the top 6 players at our club right now.

I thought berry was very good in the centre as well. He came flying through at pace winning multiple centre clearances.

Rachelle getting that black eye has been a turning point imo. He was always a bit questionable when it was his time to go but not anymore. It's like he's realised he can take the hits and be alright. Putting his head over the footy and has never looked better imo.

If McAndrew and Toby Murray keep improving then our bottom 6 will have taken a massive step forward compared to when we had players like Murphy and O'Brien holding us back.

Umpiring and injuries the only thing negative to come from the game. It was a massive win. Hugely important win and also just a hugely enjoyable win.

Oh and that goal review can **** right off. I don't know how or why they intervened but it was absolute bullshit.

I think he has always been an elite kick but the difference now is he has learnt how to find more of the footy.
Fancy that not coming in the first 30 broken up games.

So does anyone still rate Hinkley as a commentator? Sounded like he was almost ready to take the field in a Port kit at times. ****ing muppet.
He’s been fine until the showdown

despite the other 3/4 howlers, that "push" denying Wayne the sealer is one of the trashest calls I've ever seen in 40 years of watching footy.
Yep a) soft b) it gets let go often c) it’s a free in a marking contest and unless that port player was 12ft tall he had 0% chance of marking it.

Of course in practice that's how it works.

In the rules, it clearly says you only need to attempt a disposal
Yes the rules is clear. Where no prior exists you must make a genuine attempt to dispose of the ball by hand or foot. So literally drop the ball and swing your leg often gets allowed. The issue becomes interpreting genuine attempt. The HTB rules and current interpretation are a hot mess

Can’t remember ever having such mixed feelings about a win

Good
We won it. Twice! Even though we lost 2 kpps and another player hobbled.
Toby Murray. Credit where it’s due - that was a good game from a third game tall. Still lots of glaring problems, but again - game 3. Took marks, two goals when we really needed them inc a ripper from the boundary under huge pressure
Milera
Soligo - showed a few signs of the a grade mid he is as his best and we desperately need him to be, eg that amazing wide gather and handball to in the chain before ?second Murray goal in q3?. Still…
Cook - calm, classy, super reliable

Bad
Game plan - we look genuinely lost. Long bomb after long bomb, out of defence and into f50
Skills - god we were bad. Fumbles, missed targets
Soligo - didn’t get anywhere near enough of it
Curtin - fumbly as hell, dropped marks, barely touched it. Wasn’t ready.
Our inability to defend their fast ball movement.
Injuries

Ugly
Umpiring. Unbelievably bad. We had 2 goals wrongfully disallowed, plus they had two gifted (butters, and the no prior htb against bond in q1). Plus numerous other terrible calls including multiple mistakes going both ways (inc Peatling non-htb twice!) before one of our goals in q4. And the Berry htb free that was paid against him in the last q.

Midfield, still. Thirteen years (since we drafted Matt Crouch) of abject failure by our recruiters, development coaches, line coaches and senior coaches. We have not drafted and developed a single consistent a grade mid in THIRTEEN YEARS. Including nearly a decade in a rebuild! Cmon. Heads must roll.

People on here have laying into Berry this year - is he elite no. But **** me, has that kid elevated his game and he is an extremely good 3rd or 4th midfielder.

I hope I never see another game like that from RT, didn't look assed at points dropped multiple marks and body language was shocking.

McAndrew good? Sure, I've felt he's been good every game until today. Today he was smashed
Keays is the worst he's been since 2020.
Cumming a concern? He was good
Peds? X-Factor all over him, sure, he's down, but still decent. Not worth calling him out.
Thilthorpe probably in the worst form since his 1st season, but with Fog out, he's been double teamed. Dont get shocked if he gets on a run now that we're against trash for the rest of the year.
Cumming was not good
