That'd all be well and good if we weren't playing a depleted Richmond side on our home deck.

On paper we should have won comfortably and that falls on the coach.
On paper we had lost 2 of the last 4 by 100+

So on paper mcqualter takes an 11 point loss as a positive

Difference being that we’ve been shit for like 5 years, and have won 2 flags this century. Can’t really be said for the other 2
We might be on 2 flags this century by the time our 60th season celebration comes round. Like Carlton marooned since 1995
The great drought is in the tarot deck

Not sure what everyone expects of Mini. The boys responded today but their skills are terrible. For some, they won't make it. For others, it's mental, particularly the young guys. Mini can't go out and execute for them. Our on-field leaders have a role to play here though as they are kicking, handballing and fumbling the football. I'll excuse the kids as they won't be making the same kinds of mistakes as they are now in a couple of years time.
“The boys responded today” is the exact pissweak stance that the coaches would have taken from that game that shows we have the wrong guys in the coaches box.

Don't agree that McQualter needs to go.
He's a year and half in to a job that everyone knew would be the toughest task in the competition.
The glaring problem has been that there are no seniors that can hold the team up. There was an attempt to address this with the off-season, however injuries have cruelled the best of those recruits. That's left us in the same position as the last few years, a smattering of seniors who don't do $#!*, whilst the kids are left to try do too much.
Graham back in to give us much needed pressure acts, Starcevic to shore up a young and undermanned defense.
Before injuries, the gameplan was working and everyone was optimistic about the progress.

The emotion from last night is fresh, but I believe McQualter gets given at least 3 years. Nobody expected a 180 in the space of 12 months, let alone 24.
There has been improvement from last year, which is not something we were able to say in the last few years of Simmo.

Even if we got rid of McQualter this year, what coach would then want to take on the basket case knowing they only have 1-2 years to turn it around given our short patience and how deficient the list is?

Sorry but there are seniors to “hold the team up”.

We traded pick 3 to get Baker. Waterman is an AA KPF. Yeo is a dual AA premiership player.

Footy is also not a ridiculously hard game to play if you are a) fit and b) motivated enough to try.

At the very least, Even if you are a complete rubbish side, it is actually ok if you lose most weeks as long as you are chasing, running and pressuring to at least make it a scrap fest.

There is no excuse for letting oppo run it out of defence for a goal with ease, week by week. That’s on our coaching staff and that’s why Mini has to go.

Get Hinkley in - I say that as someone who gagged at the thought of it 2 years ago.

Basically, yeah. Isn't it nuts how we can go from scoffing at a guy who can't perform in finals to saying holy ****, finals? Sign him now!

"The boys responded today....."

Against a winless team missing key players Nankervis, Taranto, Lalor, Prestia etc etc from their midfield.

If McQualter says anything like that it shows he's absolutely delusional. Imagine "responding" by losing against a winless bottom of the ladder team. A total disaster in every sense. He needs to acknowledge this and that fans have every right to not accept this level of performance after the 5 years we've endured prior.

McQualter should and will get his 3 years. But i think he needs to be told in the off season that he needs to start generating improvement. No more mulligans after 2026. Another spoon and percentage of 50% won't be tolerated in 2027 and he will be gone by the bye next year if he can't do better than that. I hope i am wrong but i get the feeling from his pressers that he thinks he has 5 years up his sleave to get us out of the bottom 4. He is definately losing credibility with me.

The Richmond team today was similar experience level to us. But way more organised. They weren't continually dump kicking the ball into the 50 from 80 metres out and near the boundary. If the F50 was flooded they would look for short passes to center it and move it closer to the 50 and then go in. Why do we keep doing that every week?

Needed a experience coach

Yeah they responded how? He's thrown around some real curlers in his pressers lately.

If the messaging he's getting is as disjointed and inconsistent as this post we're doomed.

Are you insinuating Waterman had a bad game?

Also listened to the presser and zero accountability at all.
"Kids had some good moments but we need to learn to be better"

**** off with that shit Mini. You and the selection panel made poor choices and the game style is shit because there is no defensive urgency on transition. At least have some ****ing balls to come out and admit that you didn't help the team win today because of your actions and YOU YOURSELF AND THE COACHES NEED TO DO BETTER.

How long till we get a email from the CEO? something along the lines of "disappointed but on a journey" type of garbage.
I miss those emails.

We needed change and Simmo had to go.
Thought Mini would be the man to lead us to our next flag.
Early on loved how he came across.
If he couldn't get the team up for this game against a injury ravaged winless Richmond .
I can't see how he goes on after this contract ends.
It was such a big day for the club.
Besides the fumbles and turnovers from the players ,Uze definitely had the better in the coaches box..
Shuey was a great player but not a great captain, he definitely needs to be moved on with some with experience.
Don't get me started how Jacob Brennan is still there.
Was at the game yesterday and still pissed off how bad we are

Can we get around the positioning of our two wingers? Its clear they are instructed to cover the short kick by the opposition and station themselves on the corridor side of that but Davis spent so long trying to figure out where to stand by the time he sorted himself the ball was long past him. Maric was the same. Both were guarding space and the like

Last year Hamish Davis was one of our strongest tacklers and infact he still is but instead of utilising that you have him covering space and Kelly trying to lay the tackles... Its ludicrous how he has taken every player backwards since they started. Literally every single one.... even Ginbey who he has pigeon holed into a useless role rather than letting him take the game on

"The effort was there" who are you kidding? As soon as the ball hit the deck in our forward 50 Richmond were taking a shot on goal 2-3 kicks later because there was absolutely no pressure on them through the middle of the ground.

Our half forwards are slow and invisible (did Hewett play?) and so are our half backs (****ing Liam Duggan) ... If these lines provide no pressure, and they didn't all game, you're ****ed.

Effort was there. **** off. We lost to a winless VFL side at home. There was no ****ing effort on the field, in the coaches box or at the selection table.

Maric trained all pre season as a back. I think he will do well as a winger if given a good run at it.

Gibney is playing in the backline he did that mostly as a junior, I saw lot's of him as a junior and while he occasionally got thrown into the mid field he was mostly a defender. To say he is playing a useless role well I'm going to have to disagree with you.

Davis you might have a point however wasn't he a forward mid as a junior ?
