I can't watch anymore. I go from hope to anger to sadness. There is no selection integrity or willingness to try different things in 2nd halves. The players look angry and defeated and are not playing as a team. I can't do it anymore and I have never stepped away from going to games and supporting even after the draft sanctions. It seems an eternity that we beat Sydney and Melbourne in such 4-quarter fighting fashion.
IMO the rule changes have played with everyone's minds. Voss stubbornness to adapt or change has also affected the group.

Mentally they don't believe in themselves or the game plan any longer.
The new coach will have a hell of a time to get them believing in themselves.

He impacted offensively, but I'm sick and tired of Saad peeling off his man, only to be caught in no man's land and throwing the whole defence into disarray. You're taught in junior footy not to leave your man if you can't impact, but he does it time and again.

I reckon Weiters has been demoralized by being in such a crap team that is only getting worse ... and that Carlton have not provided him with at least one defender who is close to the standard that he is, so that he has full confidence in them, especially when he is off the field.
Our backline being vulnerable when Weiters is on the bench is nowhere near good enough.

We desperately need a May/Lever combo down back
Freo's Brennan Cox or Suns Sam Collins would do ... a couple of big solid Rocks.

We’ve very obviously and desperately needed that Since Jones left, but have only just this year recruited a young undeveloped player to fill the role. Dean is already a champ but needs time to put on some muscle, and is already getting smashed about too much.

Let’s say these picks are 23 (815) and 27 (703). That would leave us 716 points short, which could be applied with the 10% discount and going into deficit in 2027.

I’ve seen that several times this year in our second half capitulations. The playing group simply don’t care.

We looked full of energy in the first half but could barely run in the second. Someone got the conditioning wrong after the perth trip I suspect.
That and we have no A grade players.

It’s not fitness it’s the way they’re asked to play, the player types we have in the middle and the lack of midfield rotations. It’s not a game style that can be sustained for four quarters compounded in particular by a slow midfield who can’t keep up.

Playing the same few at stoppages all game wears them out.

As games wear on we lose it in the middle every time.
