6 includes the conditioning block, otherwise it would be 3-4, just as for a regular hammy.

He needs a full preseason. Any footy we get out of him this year is really just a bonus now.

Thankfully, he looked bloody imposing yesterday before he did it, so hopefully if he does get a really decent preseason in, we’ll get to see a lot of that in the seniors next year.

And if we get any of it this year, especially in finals if we get there, it’s a bonus.

It is what it is. He’s missed a lot of footy, he’s added a lot of bulk/weight, and his legs have been through a lot of stress.

It will take as long as it takes, and it’s not like it’s going to cost us a flag this year if he doesn’t play much.

Hopefully we can pick up a key forward at the mid season draft, just to give us more options for this season. At least we can see how Caminiti goes as a pure forward over the next couple of months

I don’t see why we would. We have Ro/TDK, Sharman and Owens, with Caminiti, Keeler and Tauru as other potential options.

Is anyone we pick up mid-season likely to be better/more ready than any of the latter 3?

I highly doubt it.

We’re averaging 118 points per game the last 3 weeks and things are only just starting to click, especially between TDK and Ro.

Man 6 weeks lol. Another conditioning block included in that. Can’t imagine how big Max must be feeling, might just never happen for him.

Big priority for the off season has to be a full forward. Love Max but would be foolish to rely on him to return at this point.
I still think he'll come good but you're totally right. Camaniti played his decoy role beautifully last night but without a permanent genuine goal kicking tall, opposition coaches are going to figure out how to beat us in no time. They don't need to be a star but surely there's a 1.5 goal a game FF out there plying is trade in some comp.

I was thinking more for depth, Keeler and Tauru (not yet at least) aren't key forwards. Sharman has been looking better further up the ground and kicking the ball inside 50 more. Owens would be unlocked even more with a bigger forward next to him.

Why do they always have to be so cryptic with the updates for him? What grade hamstring is the injury? Is it low grade like Butler's and they're doing some extra training in the rehab time? If it is just say that, if it's medium grade then say that.

Shits me.

In reality the issue isn’t the “is it 4 weeks plus conditioning or is it true 6” it’s really that he couldn’t get through 6 quarters of VFL footy.

The likelihood of ongoing soft tissue injuries and reoccurrence is through the roof and hell be a continuous monitor and manage for a long time now

Too many people will speculate on his timeline as we all did with the calf and the knees. I get the frustration but I also get why they’re doing it like this.

Sure, I mean if there’s someone really good available then grab them, but AFL quality genuine key forwards don’t exactly grow on trees in the state leagues, so I wouldn’t personally be grabbing someone unless we rate them as an instant upgrade on Caminiti/Keeler/Tauru.

So did he tear the hammy or what? I don't get it.

Edit: I see it is a strained hammy--so not sure if that means a tear etc
I think a strain is minor (as it looked in the footage) whereas a tear is more serious.

Well, we could do with one in the MSD, any out there?

And they could start playing Barrat there in the Vfl to see what he's got.
Did kick a few bags of, in his junior days.

And we do have Bailey McKenzie under our noses in the vfl.
