On the subject of Hill, I've mostly been a fan of his and happy he joined, but got annoyed at the loopy kicking.
His kicking this year is flat and fast. It's awesome.
Why/How has that changed suddenly?

Hill is improved this year. Better kicking, but also more importantly much less "deer in the headlight" moments when under pressure and especially when down back.

This year when down back he has been a real asset. In previous years whenever he played in the back half it made me nervous.

I’ve never said Adelaide.

I’ve mentioned the club who I’ve heard and I’ve said it for a year.

North.

And you can all bitch and moan about why North. But it’s pretty clear the club you/your family support/close to the heart has an impact.

Ken Hinkley was pretty clear that it’s a real thing among AFL players and it impacted his recruitment at Port.

It’s why Ben King gets linked to us every contract extension.
It's just been leaked that Adelaide made him an offer.

I just don't buy the North stuff, it's a ploy because they're throwing huge money at him.

We've gone with this strategy which is to overpay and then get good. We're committed to it now, we can't cheap out on a guy like Wilson and let him walk.

Personally I'm VERY confident he'll stay, but yes we need to keep improving and showing for one thing we are a much better prospect than North.

He’ll stay.
I’m not getting into the whole anxiety thing again for the next few months.
We’re building and looking exciting.
He’s tight with the young guys apparently.
The club will be mad to let him go. They came to the party for Windy, they’ll definitely do it for Wilson. All the media is going to be pushed by his manager.
I’m going to try my level best to block it out.
🙉

Spot on Chief-ton.

Jed Walter is the one we really want. But I feel like we only have a shot at him if two scenarios line up. First that he leaves and second that we over-achieve this season.
haven't seen to much of Walter, but I do love Caddy's work rate, would cost 2x what Walter would

The fact is that TDK is taking a huge chunk of cap. So far he's not performing at the standard that his contract would suggests is value to the side would be. Fact. We know how much cap space there is- the AFL sets that. We know that has been reported as TDKs wage and contract length. Fact. Can't see any pants pissing except for your fear of criticism causing you to flood.

This is getting boring arguing with an ignorant toxic optimist who can't handle any criticism of the club or even a hint of it. I like to think that I can use critical thinking and not just hope for the best. You are entitled to do what ever you want just as I'm entitled to say whatever I want no matter how much you dislike it.

Your incessant dull responses are driving me insane now. We might just have to stop doing whatever this shit is.
Realistically, TDK is never going to be worth exactly what we paid for him.
And we all know exactly why we had to.
But how about we wait at least till the end of the season before making any major pronouncements as to his worth. He took a big step forward this week and it’s clear he’s still finding his feeet with regards to playing with different players.

Dont know but you are correct and it is most welcomed.
Maybe his improved fitness?

Hilly is visibly in better shape than in previous years and is now playing the best footy of his time at St Kilda. He looked like he was trending in the wrong direction last year year - looked slower and his kicking was deteriorating but what a great turnaround it's been from him. Maybe some nagging injuries cleared up or he just approached the previous off season with greater professionalism. Either way, kudos to him. Hopefully he can keep up this kind of form for a few more years

The aboriginal boys at StKilda are so much fun to watch. Nas, Hill and flyin Ryan just light up the field. Hope Henry can join the party consistently .

Hope that's not racist to group the brothers like that...
As long as you don’t mention X factor you should be ok 🤣

Why don't we just pay up?
Who says we won’t?
There’s no way his manager will let him sign now.
He’ll follow the Nas, Windy, Wilkie route and try hold the club to ransom.

I'd rather one Wilson than all of Butler, Clark, Macrae etc. He'll be a star for 10 years.
We all would.
And it’ll probably happen.
All three coming to the end of their contracts soon I think.

That would be a kick in the teeth. Sending him to draft if that’s all.
It'd suck but I'm taking a top 15 pick over nothing. Darcy is very promising but it's not like he's a consistent high production gun who warrants a top 5 pick or multiple first rounders

Was Wilson the player supposedly pissed off at being dropped last year?

Honestly the endless media cycle in footy winds up with campaigners throwing darts at players and clubs and then running with “Wilson linked to sensational code switch” there would be **** all validity to most of it and when the 90% of their “exclusives” don’t pan out there is zero accountability.

Maybe Wilson goes and presumably if he does it’ll be for good coin but with the number of people who benefit from this bullshit I’m tipping it’s all just hot air.

I believe the story was that Lyon publicly said that Wilson asked to be dropped to the VFL and the media reported that Wilson was unhappy with this claim and that it was never his request.

I'd say probably a pick between 10-15 would be the going rate. Maybe a later pick swap in our favour of it's in the 13-15 range
We swapped 15 for 18 to get him. If we took 15 for him we may as well shut up shop.
A top 10 is the starting price with a high second.
Lyon wont f*** about. He was about to go nuclear if NAZ requested a trade. Said it would get real nasty.

not sure he’s playing at all differently tbh. it’s just that this year’s game style suits him 100x better than a couple of years ago. lots of space and a premium on outside running. perfect time for him.

I've chuckled at a few posts from posters that have criticised Hill in the past now claiming that he is preparing better and essentially pulling his finger out haha.

Wish I had that kind of access to players.

I think you have hit the nail on the head.

Nah that would be significantly unders. He was pick 18 and what he's put together since then rates him much higher than just a teens pick. If other clubs rate him so highly that they're throwing big big bucks at him, then they must pay accordingly. High top ten pick plus is minimum. Even that would be unders if another club is throwing big long term bucks at him.

a pick between 5 and 10 I'd think

I remember in the Hawks pre-season doco Sam Mitchell saying something along the lines of "good structure and work rate makes the kicker's job easy"

Hilly doesn't need to bite off aggressive kicks because we've become a more predictable side. Also free flowing running game suits him to a tee.

Some of the changes suit him too. Lasso rule, 6/6/6 theres more space there for the gut runners to exploit especially between the arcs and getting across as the switch outlet.

Ive been a critic of Hill for a long time but this year (and last TBH) hes been a top 5 player for us IMO. This year in particular hes been enormous. Hes never going to be a contested ball player or a particularly good one on one player but what hes good at hes VERY good at.

Has alway been an elite runner, but even he has said his body is in better shape than it has been in years.
However it is his kicking, it seemed loopy and was putting it on the heads of players. Now it is more direct and hitting players on the tit.
And it is quite possibly the game style. The fasg transition to players one out and on the lead tends to redirect the type of kick
As I posted earlier, best averages since his third year at Hawthorn, but still some say he was a bad recruit. Lol.
