Boy oh boy lol.

St Kilda may be complaining about their fixture now, but their run home is as good as it gets

Ross Lyon spoke of the ‘high demand’ five weeks his Saints have coming up. But a look at the final 11 games — or 71 days — of St Kilda’s season shows why Gold Coast might think competitive balance is broken.

Seems a convenient time to run with this article.

Gold Coast in Ralphy's back pocket?

Melbourne got trounced by Essendon by 8 goals but the Media can't help drooling over them and their huge % of 100.2
Fair, the dees get to spruik their youth and the Stephen King story.

It was actually quite funny to me watching first crack how far up the demons ass alot of the media were "Oh they lost but still, they gained alot of admirers, Sydney is the yardstick".

We lost by a point to last years minor premiers on their home deck and no one gave a shit.

Pick a lane.

The only lane that the mainstream media want to drive in with St Kilda is the one that does clicks.

And that's the 'whinging' Saints are underachieving after their 'big spend'.

yup they'll keep whinging about it all season unless we're either irrelevant and out of contention, or so good that they have to give us credit. at the moment we're in the middle so they can write whatever's easiest.

It's funny how perception is worth more than realty a lot of the time. Melbourne were expected to be bottom 4 and are a serious side so get lots of media love. We went out and paid up big to get more competitive so get no respect and added to a horror early fixture we didn't look good on the ladder either.

I think that we'll fly under the radar and come home strong late to play finals so will be that kind of year unless we go on a really good run.

It would be cool to start up some social forum / podcast to target and call out idiotic journalists/Media and their opinions/calls ..... hold them to account ..... reckon you would be pretty busy

They get clicks by writing negative stuff. It just feeds the campaigners even more. Just ignore them.

Will be a lot closer than suggested by the bookies I'd wager (ha!).

GC's form line is pretty meh aside from a very good win against the Cats and that was Round 1.

GC are pretty ordinary still. They are probably the most winnable match up besides Richmond then hopefully we can take down the Hawks.

Im a bit more agnostic about the media with us. We did spend up, we have the two highest paid players in the game and we brought in 4 (i think) players from other clubs (TDK, JSOS, Flanders, Ryan) all of whom except probably Ryan would be on big to good coin.

We invited that scrutiny, i love what we did and i support it (we cant just go the standard route of other clubs) but it does attract those headlines.

I also get Melbourne as the feel good fast tracked success, took Steele off the scrap heap angle theyre doing, it just seems a bit much to be frothing them after a loss, honorable or not.

Feel good stories create their own momentum. We got it under Ratts and then Ross when we were better than expected. Aussies love an underdog story as much as we hate tall poppies.

They are a better list than they were given credit for and for, the last 2 years they have chronically under performed. A big part of that was probably the two stars that they let go. They kept going hard at the draft even when they were up and have had a few cut price wins. Jai Culley looked absolutely awesome before injury. Mihocek too. Steele and Moose both look like good cheap top ups and Kosi Pickett is now elevating to absolute elite level.

Lets see how Steele is going at round 15

9th in the league for turnovers

I don't think we should have kept him but for a side losing two inside mids he found the right home. No other club needed him like they do.

interested to see how he and viney co-exist

Probably too much of the same and they have Langford ready to step in at some point too.

Well the way media is sacking they will disappear by their own hand

They are the Murdoch, Stokes and Rienhardt influencers

Did Jon Ralph legitimately just call us a nepo baby of the afl and refer to our free agents, soft fixture and something about not playing in cairns or whatever that didn’t really make sense …. What the hell is he on
Got to be the definition of click bait. We got free agents who were available to everyone, back to back Adelaide games, one of which was a home game against Port.
And why would we play in Cairns, it's not our home ground?
You want a soft fixture, have a look at teams that have played WC, Rich,vEss and Carlton so far.

The soft run up is much better than getting a bunch of games at home late anyway. It's not like our back end is stacked with easy wins. The ladder barely changes after the first 8 weeks because once you are well down the ladder, sides mentally check out and confidence goes.

John Ralph is a moron.

If you want a good read, the comments on Ralph's X post below do the trick.

He tries to defend himself a little bit but pretty meekly.

The problem is, as I saw mentioned by Mowman about Korn yesterday, this article by Ralph would have done a lot more traffic than a decently written feature on say Max Hall's journey and rise.

The more people read and talk about this rubbish, the more we see it. It's a doom circle. We have to read it because we love the club.
