Are Geelong really that good?

Yes? No?

There’s something tired and fading about them. Like the colour is draining away.

I may be a bit anxious.
I don't know if it's the horizontal stripes but a lot of them seem to have dad bodies.
They've likely been saving themselves for us.

I feel like they are not the team they have been…

Unexpectedly lost to Port 2 weeks weeks ago, but also didn’t look crash hot for the first 3 quarter last week against North….

I have no doubt we can go with them in general play, biggest concern is that our forwardline is impotent and theirs is the opposite.

West doesn't get his chance because Cameron is OK, which in itself is great. So no complaints from me.
Buller gets another chance to prove himself.
I''m really disappointed that Hayes is out, but Beau is a brilliant inclusion, and he's got pace to burn like WH. Beau also adds more to the midfield, which is definitely what needs to be addressed, given how much territory we kept ceding to Hawthorn last week.
Would have loved for us to have found a way to keep WH in the side as well though.
Maybe we could have considered Roan out, and WH stays in.

Thinking they might be aiming possibly for West to come in for the Eagles Game

Yes they are. They have the best 1/2 punch in the league through the middle and the most dangerous all round forward. Tactically and match up wise I think it’s a good one for us, but history suggests all it takes is Danger to wind back the clock and we’re cooked.

Basically it’s winnable because we’re 5-10 peers on the ladder, but the bookies have it right, IMO. Hayes remarkably stiff BTW his two weeks prior were softer than against Hawthorn and it’s off a long break. Really confusing selection.

Hoping Danger’s decline, our highly competent defence, and the Cats’ weak-ish rucks will get us there. This is where we surely compete favourably.

McCreery back is big for us, but agree re Hayes. Also hope the selection reflects one of Fly’s cunning plans. Will be a battle of two of the smarter coaches.

Ollie Henry is making the epic journey to Melbourne Saturday night. They’ll make movies about this heroic effort against adversity

Rightly or wrongly we are opting for experience. Feel sorry for Hayes, but I'm sure he'll get opportunities again soon enough.

Genuine 50/50 game for mine. Both teams can make a good case as to why they'll win on Saturday night.

Always a good thing in a way when you’re dropping talent because of depth

The fact that Myers is out is very good for us. He is so good at switching angles and creating dangerous ball movement. As others have noted, we have every reason to hope that we can dominate the ruck.

Im hoping that the inclusion of Beau as extra rotation through the midfield is connected to a plan for seeking ascendancy in centre clearances.

It’s all good. Ollie and Mum have it sorted.

Mum will pick him up after the game, with Ollie’s teddy and blanky in the car. Then he can sleep on the way home.

I’m less caught up than others on players’ age week by week because I think on balance some form of exposure this year for youngsters is enough and we have the second half of the season to prioritise development if top 4 looks a distant dream.

That said I would have preferred to see one of Parker or Hayes in the line up, not because of age but because of attributes.

I look at our line up and based on skills and form these are the players I can see providing some forward run for us: Nick, Crisp, IQ, Beau and at a stretch R Steele and even a bigger stretch AA. One of them will be busy with Dempsey. That’s it. Leave us very static against a team that likes to exploit this in the middle with acceleration from B Smith, Holmes, Dempsey, Mannagh.

Get ready for a very defensive game again from us as a result with numbers back. I’m not looking forward to relying on the oppo missing their shots.

Better hope either Long has a significant impact in the middle (please not another 10 tackles game where he’s just trailing Smith and Holmes at every ground ball battle and slows us down and gets caught going the other way) or AA a significant impact forward. Otherwise we’re just continuing with a poorer set up than we had when we only had one of the two in.

One player missing for Geelong is a big plus for us - Blicavs.
They've brought in Stanley because they have nobody else.
DC and Oscar should enjoy a big night out.
Let's hope Dangerfield adds another 4 disposals to his season tally.
