So went and watched harrow vs edenhope today as a neutral and got there during the first quarter of the reserves and one thing that stood out to me was that quality of umpiring. Was as about as bad as I’ve ever seen. They were trying to umpire the reserves like it was a game of AFL. You couldn’t get a passage of play without them blowing the whistle over something trivial. And it was the same in the seniors. Never seen so many 50 meter penalties paid. Really takes the enjoyment out of watching footy and I’m sure the players were getting sick of it aswell. Where do they find these guys?

How could orval be in the best 25 players this year . He hasn’t even played a game this year

Not sure. Just embarrassing for the league really, they need to look at a league like the KNTFL, you wouldn’t get nitwits umpiring senior football there. But in all honesty the HDFL just has never been run as professionally as the other leagues. It really has put me off going to another HDFL game for a while

That's why the 25 metre penalty like in SA works better, last disposal rule helps as well. In the seniors I thought Edenhope might kick a few more goals than just three but HB still going strong.

Rigby would of been the umpire trying to impose him self on the game of footy and make it all about him.
Watched him umpire the Stawell V Horsham game a fortnight ago and it was the worst game I’ve ever seen umpired after watching local football for the last 25 years. He paid 13 free kicks to Horsham in the first quarter.

A good umpire is one that isn’t noticed. I know we can’t have a game without them but they also need to be held accountable at the end of the day they are paid reasonably well to do it.

Nah it wasn’t. i asked someone and they said his last name is Feduniw, completely spoiled the game, neither sets of supporters were happy. Umpiring is the hardest job and I have total respect for them, but this guy seriously didn’t know the rules, and just had this compulsion to blow his whistle every 30 seconds for the most petty things. And pay 50 meters a lot
