Autopsy Rnd 10 | Euro-Yroke v Richmond

Both Freo and Sydney have looked very beatable lately, just keep managing to pull out wins. Hawthorn are only just going. If it weren't for our outs I'd say we can match it with all of them, still think we're a chance this week. Feels like a free hit.
Yeah I actually really liked our chances when we had close to full availability. It’s not so much the Nas omission that worries me weirdly, as we have guys that can step up - but losing Owens and Ryan is a big blow, Owens is huge for our contest work. We’re really going to need TDK and Marshall to rotate forward effectively and, more importantly take their chances. Don't want to see Marshall shank any more out on the full...

Really hope Wilkie and Higgins play, otherwise we're f*****.

I’m still strangely confident — and usually that’s when we get belted 😂

On The Couch brought back the "Premiership Window" this week - top 6 for attack and defence.

We're fifth defensively and eight in attack.

Feels like we're one proper breakthrough performance away from taking the next step. Unfortunately it might not be able to happen until Nas is back, but it'd be fantastic if it was Friday night.
I don’t believe in their premiership window. Good teams score more and concede less and that’s a highly recommended goal. But in finals it comes down to scoring more than the opposition on the day. And nobody cares if you met some arbitrary statistical goal by the end of the year and let alone by the end of round 10.

Just FYI, if only I care about that arbitrary statistical goal, then by definition your statement is incorrect.

Brad Hill has had PLENTY of games over the journey with 0 tackles (or 1/2) he also had none on the weekend and is averaging 1.7 a game this year (2 for his career).

Some blokes arent tacklers and frankly shouldnt be, Henry would be in that boat for me. He can pressure and position without laying tackles and he also probably doesnt have to do much of either if that offensive game gets cooking for him.

True, but if you are not winning the pill, kicking goals or bringing others into the game you need to have that defensive part of the game firing. Right now Henry is not really offering anything. His current performances mirror his first year with us, one great game followed by a string of anonymous performances. We are not good enough to carry players who are not contributing.

Hes played 3 games this year.

15 touches, 3 goals game 1
14 touches, 1 goal game 2
8 touches, 0 goals game 3

Game 1 is a cracker, game 2 is a pass and game 3 is a fail.

Id wait until he has a run of form indicating game 3 is the norm before i got too worried. He performed poorly in a game we didnt need him to do much in where the oppo flooded defensively.

Henry is in the last year of his contract which I imagine would be worth a few dollars considering we lured him from another club.

We are short of fit small forwards right now, but he'll find out soon enough that the list is maturing and players won't get gifted games in the ones to find form for very long. It's up to him if he is to make it.

Holding himself back to face the old mob in good form hopefully.

Who Charlie? I'm guessing that his mates are all dockers fans, and he won't want to do well against them.
No. Henry.

PS. Just on Windy..

Banga was so so with his kicking too. But then he really focussed on his short kicking game, and never looked back to become one of the games greats.
I was going to email the club and see if any chance the coaches could cut video of the legend feathering 30m kicks onto Plugger and Loewe's leading chest. He was the best at it and the mids should be lining up to ask him how he practiced it.

Got to see LOC up close, as he was mostly patrolling the wing right in front of us, and he’s certainly got some good raw ingredients there, with his size, genuine speed, good hands overhead, and how hard he goes at it.

7 effective disposals and 56m-gained isn’t really AFL standard for someone playing wing though, so ideally we need Mason back and in good form, ASAP, IMO- if we want to seriously push for finals.

Will be interesting to see what sort of career LOC has though. Would have thought he was best suited to the Jimmy type lockdown defensive role, given he doesn’t find much of the pill, but perhaps he will be able to play wing effectively eventually.
Exactly. That defensive back pocket type appears to be perfect for him. Was tracking well, but for some bizarre reason we want to turn him into a wingman when we have a plethora of option that are far more promising in that role than him.

Wood, Hill and Wilson currently. Other preferred options IMO for that role would be Banfield, Boxshall, Hastie, Trav, Henry plus Windhager and Flanders can play that role.

I would have him at least 8th in the pecking order to play that role. Obviously the club has a different opinion.

Compare that to a lockdown back pocket role and I would have him only behind Stocker.
