Lord - delist
Phillips - retired
Tippa - retire (will stay on staff with vfl coaching role)
BTZ - trade (not quite a 1st choice key back - currency will never be higher)
Mcbride - delist (was a cat b rookie so not absorbing a list spot)
Parish - lose to FA (always been a fan but on balance we...
Need to break down the realities and the likelihoods before speculating too far ahead....
We currently have 5 snr list spots following smith, hurley, tippa retirements and cutler, mcdonagh delistings (hird was cat b rookie, not counted in list numbers).
Forgive me if I'm wrong but currently...
Using footywire as a guide we have 23 out of contract out of contract at years end... there 2 CAT B rookies are worth another year provided no one is earmarked for one of these spots.
Hurley looks certain to retire... tippa seems more than likely.
Perkins, cox and reid all sign for 2. Mcgrath...
Didn't realise that was the GWS position.... with any luck they don't bid at all. Aren't they really into Mac Andrews. Even if he goes at 3 you need about 200 points however it is hard to see you not using a pick for either lipiski of krueger this year unless you're looking at taking one in the PSD
He will go pick 2. Currently need 420 points to match. Trade cox or lynch to once of the QLD clubs for a pick in the 50's that they're not going to use anyway. Still about 200 points away.....
Offer a future 3rd or pick 48 for lipinski..... dogs can take their pick. Future 3rd likely to be a...
I'm playing with a collingwood hypothetical.... after completely ballsing up last years trade period I think the pies should be doing everything they can to pinch the #1 pick so they can take horne-francis, prior to the bid on daicos. How you ask? well....
Darcy moore and future 2nd rd pick for...
Hard to see this pick moving, particularly for a straight swap. As previously raised attracting the 'right' player is difficult, this person will need good leadership qualities, worth ethic and a positive contributor to culture and performance. They tend to stay at their own club or go home...
Went to the VFL game a windy hill last weekend, love getting there to see some of our younger and depth players do their thing.
Thought our best player on the ground was VFL listed player Angus Baker, seems a no brainer we'll take him in the mid season draft. Another option and far more...
Good to see him getting increased midfield minutes, it's an opportunity for him to go ahead of shiel in our midfield group who will be coming to the end of his contract when we're hoping to be a more polished and overall competitive side. If Merrett takes up a FA offer at years end he becomes...
Always a fun exercise..... assuming a fully fit list.
B francis*, hurley*, guelfi
HB ridley, ambrose*, heppell*
C parish, mcgrath, caldwell
HF langford, stewart, smith*
F stringer, wright, tippa
R draper, shiel, merrett
Int zaharakis, laverde*, redmond, ham
Emerg hooker*, clarke, snelling

that actually makes quite a bit of sense given some recent speculation has academy pick coleman potentially going 10-15 picks earlier than expected. Can see dees running mid table again next year so their pick will prob land between 9-12.
Ideally I think we trade one of our picks, most likely 8 to get an additional pick in the first round next year. The only two realistic targets would be collingwood and hawthorn. Less so of the two is hawthorn but they both have NGA picks who seem likely to go around where their current picks...
Definitely! Though if you're referring to the treloar trade i have no doubt you guys have pulled the wool over the pies eyes.....
You've offloaded a first rounder this year for their picks which nets you an extra 500 points for JUH this year. Which is about par given adelaide's 22 and 23 was...
It would certainly require a 'hand shake' agreement to tempt the pies.
They need to maximize their draft hand this year and bank points next year. Likely to carry a debt of a 200-400 points into 2021 after matching mcinnes. From all reports daicos gets matched as a f/s next year with a very...
Use pick 7,8 (likely pick 10,11) on draft night. Trade 6 (likely 9) and 2 x future 3rds (port and ours) to pies for 16 (likely 19) and their future first. Banking on them being mid table and their first coming between 9-14.
Get pies into the top 10 on draft night, there is less danger of one of...
Last few days before (trade week) Christmas... like most trade weeks a stack to be done and the cameron and saad deals are probably the key to most of the domino's falling. The only quick and easy trade I foresee in the next day or so is brown to Melbourne for pick 26, if the Witherden ends up...
Pick 7 for Danihar..... useful!!!
Hopefully we get Fantasia done early. Happy to take pick 28 and 56 for Fantasia and 47 (port will want to maintain some point for academy picks... as will we.)
Reckon we play peace maker between GWS and Cats when the Cameron bid is matched. Trade out pick 7...
So that would be Saad, fantasia and 42 out for Caldwell. Not sure that's a win for us..... it's effective losing fantasia and 42 for nothing.
Port giving up 26 for Fantasia an 42 seems about right. Still think something comes back late to help us match a pick for Brand in the 30's. Don't see...
A couple of things are a little clearer.... Fantasia off to port and should get done in a reasonably straight forward manner..... one would hope, even if it's done late. Reckon whatever we get from Carlton for Saad moves to GWS for Cardwell.
Fantasia and 42 to port for 26 and 53.
Carlton 7 and...
Two weeks since my last post and still trying to come up with a way to stem the bleed.... the likelihood of band one compo for Danihar seems dashed (which we would accept) and Saad has confirmed he is off to Carlton.
Fagan seemed pretty committed in Danihar in his press conference last night...
Exactly why I don't simply see Geelong handing over 13 and 16 for 7 even if 27 comes back to break the inevitable deadlock.
Geelong like to recruit local talent and there are two Geelong falcon's kids, likely to both go in the top 10 but not in the top 5. Surely they would be eyeing of a...
Pretty sure you said points are nonsense.... seems dismissive if you ask me! And no, I don't think trades are points driven but they certainly provide a guide as to what a pick is worth and when a club does not possess a suitable pick to get the trade done. In this instance 7 is too high, 27 too...
Agree that is fair but the potential stumbling block for that is Geelong would want 6 & 7.... they have two local kids they will want in the draft and will need both picks for that! I can only see them getting involved for both.
dismissing something created over a period of time by people far more intelligent than us because it doesnt suit your position sounds pretty close to nonsense if you ask me
