Mentioned this in the post-game thread:
3 of our potential draftees are currently playing for Oakleigh v Dandy in the TAC Cup GF.
Will Kelly (4), Atu Bosenavulagi (13) and Isaac Quaynor (23) are all potential Pies - Chargers are trailing by 14 at HT.
MODS:
Feel free to combine this with another (non-banter) preview thread, if one comes along...
Looking forward to this one.
Broomy and Aish in for Varcs and Coxy makes for a more mobile team, with more options to take a turn through the middle.
Hopefully, a few players are better for the run...
Not going to be a detailed training report like others produce, but here are a few thoughts and updates from this morning that might be of interest:
First of all, on a lovely, crisp morning, I absolutely relished the chance to be there after a long absence from Australia, standing alongside a...
If anyone's looking for yet another footy show, here's one trying to offer a few new concepts:
Footyology [with Rohan Connolly as host, Mark Fine of SEN, being fairly sensible and Jon Pierik of the Age, as the news guy].
Special guest for the first show was Peter Bedford, being interviewed in...
With articles indicating that Macaffer and now Swanny will play more as forwards, what do you expect to be our 'front 7' or so?
'If opportunities don’t present themselves to Macaffer in the midfield, a return to the forward line beckons.“I’ve had a few brief chats with a few coaches, and even a...
Telling us what we already knew, I suspect:
KEY STAT LEAGUE RANK
Kicking efficiency 64.1% 16th
Defensive 50 to score % 8.1% 16th
Centre bounce clearance differential -2.6 18th
SUMMARY
The Magpies lost six games by 12 points or fewer in 2015 and part of that can be attributed to their lack...
This is what passes for news at Carlton these days: [;)]
'Carlton will post one of the biggest financial losses in the club's history, and are expected to be $2 million in the red after notching just four wins for the 2015 season.
The result follows a $1.6 million loss for the 2014 season, but...
Thought this might be an interesting talking point - particularly where coaches are in strong agreement:

Can't see a thread for this - extended [30 minutes plus] interview with Dekka on the afl site:
http://www.afl.com.au/draft/road-to-the-draft.workstation
Answers questions on the past, recent past and present, so worth a listen.

Quite like the balance of this article from Rohan Connolly.
Here's a couple of brief excerpts:
'Collingwood's dependence on Scott Pendlebury, Dane Swan, Steele Sidebottom and Travis Cloke...
New weekly focus on the VFL with Caff, Pebbles and the VFL manager... good to see more focus on the VFL team, with game footage as well as coach, player and even supporter interviews.
Good to hear things are on the upswing, injury-wise:
http://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/news/2014-11-26/key-pies-put-injuries-behind-them
Quite a lot of 'new recruits'.
Have to say that I really enjoy reading his comments on the VFL more than most.
I feel like I get a much clearer idea of what the club really thinks of the players' performances and development. For example:
31. Jackson Ramsay
Statistics: 6 kicks, 2 marks, 3 handballs, 9 possessions, 0...
Yes, on-field success always defines a coach over the course, but my goodness it feels good to be associated with a coach that addresses the issues of the day as well as ours does.
Kudos!
In all honesty, watching his responses to questions related to player [and people] welfare makes me more...
The latest from CFC, knowing many see it as an unreliable source of injury info:
As of Monday 7 April 2014
Name Injury Status
Nick Maxwell Ankle Test
Sam Dwyer Knee 1 week
Patrick Karnezis Osteitis Pubis 1 week
Paul Seedsman Hip 1 week
Nathan Brown Shoulder 1-2 weeks
Tim Broomhead Shin splints...
Emma Quayle article on Krak, which explains a few things and clears up others:
Andrew Krakouer didn't walk out on Collingwood. He didn't even think of giving up. But after football and racism collided again last month, and his own club and president became part of the debate, he had a lot on...
Mixed news on the injury front:
Jolly not as bad as first thought; Ramsay and Young worse than hoped,
BUT my boy, Luke Ball expected back in the VFL this week: ;)
[BTW, some of them look guesstimates or out of date a la Gault's sudden reappearance].
Luke Ball Knee Test
Darren Jolly...
See the AFL is looking at extending the season proper with the possibility of an earlier start, more games played and more byes with the NAB Cup being shortened and/or very different...
Don't see this posted anywhere, so see below: [most obvious change is Gault is ready; while of more importance is the slow progress of Bally and Dids, which seems to suggest an ultra-conservative approach, or a real belief in our depth, I guess].
Injury List -As of Tuesday 26 March 2013

Thought this might be worth having its own thread as it covers much more ground than just Caroline Wilson's shenanigans:
Ox to Eddie on SEN:
"Did you call her [Caro], Ed?"
"Nah, couldn't be bothered...."
"Swanny is going fine... We're all going well at Collingwood...there's a really good feel...
This is part of a reply to a message in another thread. I thought it might be worth its own thread.
I think people tend to gloss over or forget how hard it is to dispose of the ball skillfully while under actual physical pressure, inferred pressure [including sometimes questionable tagging...
Just heard on SEN news that Yags has been delisted with a view to being 're-rookied'.
That would mean two places available on the senior list and two other spots left on the rookie list IF both Yags and Hudson get to us.
Just wonder what people's thoughts are on who will retire after 2013, 14 and 15; as well as whether we have adequate replacements already.
Here are the most likely candidates and their ages as of March 2013:
Ben Johnson 31 years - 11 months
Darren Jolly 31 years - 04...
