That's correct. It's a paperwork nightmare. At June 30, players get locked into one list or the other. In Saturday's game, there were a mixture of reasons why a few players played down. Some are coming back from injury, some are struggling for form. There's a few players who played much of...

The UQ fields are owned and controlled by UQ. After a few years of regularly having the ground closed on us for training and some games, they've moved to a ranking system based on the condition of the field. We're now limited to training in running shoes when the ground is overly damp (not great...

Hey, I usually manage to drive myself to the hospital. Or walk. :) But this antique body won't be ready for Round 1. Rounds 4 to 6 have always been my target. I'll probably be donning the sexy green runner's outfit until then. It's going to be an interesting game in the Seniors - it won't...

The Caboolture - UQ game was a good day out, and full credit to the Caboolture club for how they ran the day. Without any of the rain that was seen further south, the water misting tent was well received. I'm not sure if anyone kept score, but it would have been pretty close. To be honest, it...

The UQ v Caboolture practice game is going to be 6 quarters, so not sure where the inconsistency comes from.

Nambour were definitely a more likeable group of footballers. Seemed to play the game in good spirit. The hand is five weeks post surgery, leaving me about 6 weeks away from a comeback. Would have been quicker to have the finger amputated than repaired, but that's life.

Personally, I think Nambour were a far more professional and disciplined outfit that Logan. All other things being equal, those factors should see them get up.

It was only in '99 that he came down. Started in the ressies. Someone at the club has classic video of him spraying a shot at goal, dead in front, 10m out, so I've heard....

from looking at the team sheets... no. To be fair, the results in the reserves came down to three big issues: 1) we don't have a genuine ruckman, 2) our structures and manning up were woeful, and 3) they had some good forward players that we had no answer to. Still, it's was a massive blow...

Caboolture only started with three on the bench in the seniors. A red card to one of them helped. I wonder if they came thinking that it would be an easy game, and were surprised by how hard university fought in the first term (scores equal at 1/4 time). I've seen it before, where a team...

Upset of the year so far, with UQ running over the top of Caboolture in the last quarter. Caboolture's reserves seemed unusually strong, and their seniors unusually soft, so not sure what was happening there. We'll take the hard fought win though.

Based on the last time I did this injury, 6-10 weeks. Will still be able to work on running fitness fortunately.

Same at UQ. Not bad for someone appointed 5 days before the first game. Keeping in mind that he coached the Threes to a GF in 2008, so he's not new to the caper.

Hey Gaz, Is Coomera aware that now you're up in Div 2, Senior games are meant to be played with time-on? Yesterday's game finished at 3.45 after starting just after 2 (Most seniors games finish around 4.30pm, with the average quarter around 28 minutes). Best as we can tell, either you...

UQ beat Caloundra by 3 points in a tight one. Ressies also won as well. Great results considering we only appointed our new Senior Coach, plus ressies coaches, on Tuesday.

Yeah, but that's my forward pocket, and now that I'm fit enough to run out four quarters, you're going to have to fight someone for the other one :D But you're right, I'm backing us for the win this week.

I'll agree with you on the first bit Morro.... if every game of footy was played in the spirit of our ressies game, it'd be a much better league. But the umpiring got steadily worse as the game wore on. First half I was thinking the umps were pretty decent, but I don't know if they got tired...

Yeah, but his tendency to talk back at the umpires (and coaches, and team mates, and runners, and water carriers...) tends to cost him a few votes. Besides, he's not that old (just looks it).

Exams aren't for another week. Besides, not many of Red Lions Senior players are students any more. More likely to impact the other three teams. Great win over Caloundra today. Uni were a few points down at the last break, but managed to power on in the last quarter, to win by a couple of...

As the former Treasurer at UQ (2003, 2004 & 2008), and a current senior committee member, I can say with absolute authority that we do not, and have never, paid a player (not in the 11 seasons I've been at the club). We have buggerall income... we survive on player fees, canteen beer sales...

Quite a few clubs don't pay their players. Uni certainly don't... even the best players still have to pay their fees and sure as hell don't get any monetary rewards.
