I thought Matthew Lloyd's article in The Age was really good.
Interesting that he notes how strong the rivalry between the clubs was during his playing days.
As for the match itself, I have tipped North, mainly due to Essendon's horrific run with injuries. Even though you are getting some...
Would have loved for us to win but in the end it might have just been wallpapering over cracks.
People complain about no 50m for the Fletcher snipe on Wells. Yeah, all other things being equal it should have been 50 (and Fletcher has always, always been a dirty [or, if you support, Essendon...
Those last two posts just make it even more annoying that Ziebell won't be playing tomorrow night.
Guess we'll just have to wait and see how Ziebell's 'exposed form' is tracking come Round 20.
:thumbsu:
Do you honestly rate those two over Swallow and Ziebell? Honestly?
Completely different type of player who would walk into North or Sydney, but irrelevant to this comparison.
:thumbsu:
We are (ostensibly, at least) playing Thompson and Firrito () as our KPD tomorrow night. If your resting ruckmen can't kick goals against that defense then some serious questions need to be asked.
The way I see it, even if Hurley kicks four goals, you will need a further 5-6 from your...
Only because Goodes missed a gimme, and certainly not for lack of output by Hannebury.
Boy do I have time for Jack and Hannebury. Name a club which wouldn't take them. I reckon they'd both make your starting midfield alongside Watson to be honest.
But I digress.
I'm wondering how Bomber fans...
Some bloke on the North board started a thread asking whether we had the list 'pedigree' (high enough draft picks basically) to win a flag. Unsurprisingly he was shouted down for it and now I see he has a red card. Might have got it for posting stuff elsewhere (I dunno) but knowing what the...
I see you guys carded the bloke who made the thread asking whether we had the 'pedigree' to win a flag.
Please tell me he didn't get carded for starting that thread. It wouldn't surprise me.
I found this is in the other thread but didn't want to reply to it there in case somebody took it as a troll.
What will happen? They will get crunched and go on to almost win the match for their team single-handedly thereafter, just as Hannebury did?
Thompson and Firrito as our named key backs.
:o
I imagine the plan might be to send the resting ruckman to the forward goalsquare and throw Tarrant into defence (at least as a Plan B if things go pear-shaped).
Wells, Atley and MacMillan is the speediest back six I can ever recall us naming...
Re: North Melbourne vs Essendon - Round 1 - 31/3/11
First, that's over their entire careers. Compare last season only and they are almost identical.
Second, that is simply disposals per game. Doesn't tell us how many are effective, how many are goal assists, where they are getting these kicks...
Re: North Melbourne vs Essendon - Round 1 - 31/3/11
Please tell me you aren't really trying to suggest that either of those players are as good as Wells right now.
1 and 3 I won't argue with because at this point in time Cunnington is yet to prove himself at AFL level and Bastinac is coming...
This is a gem of a post. Absolute peach.
You've copied and pasted that straight from my post in the preview thread. Which is bad enough that you gave no citation, but then you've also gone and edited it surreptitiously.
I have amended it to reflect what I originally wrote and I ask that you...
Has that actually been confirmed by anybody or is it another classic SLF stitchup?
I figured he was making it up at first but it seems to have grown legs.
Re: North Melbourne vs Essendon Round 1 31/3/11
Harvey could play for another two seasons and many (most?) on the North board believe he will still be there when our window opens.
I am not as optimistic, which is why I included the stats sans Harvey.
Re: North Melbourne vs Essendon Round 1 31/3/11
Not including Rawlings or Fletcher as neither will play in their respective clubs' next flags:
1st Wells 27yo at start of 2012 season
1st Swallow 24
3rd Petrie 29
4th Harvey 33
5th Adams 23
6th Ziebell 21
7th Goldstein 23
8th Rawlings (RET)
9th...
Two mid-table teams representing clubs who haven't won a single flag in the past decade between them fighting for a spot in the finals to get picked off in the first week or embarrassed by one of the real contenders in weeks two or three. Both supported by people on bigfooty who honestly think...
Re: North Melbourne vs Essendon Round 1 31/3/11
It was my own fault. They let me back after a year-long spell on the condition I couldn't say or do anything that might upset one or two of the more namby-pamby posters. One of them baited me and I stupidly took the bait. That was the end...
