I'd be interested to find out what kind of money Mal is on. Didn't he reject Collingwood's offer over $1m over three years, to take up an offer from Brisbane around $400k a year?
That's almost $20,000 per kick! :D
Apart from his first game back from injury, he has been sensational this year. Wasn't in our best on Sunday, but wasn't the cause of any stuff ups either, and not in our worst.
His opponents aren't an indication of workload, just a lack of ideal match-up. Obviously West Coast don't have a...
Fair enough, it's not anything out of the ordianry by a coach though. I can hardly imagine anyone as positive as JYD saying "yeah we wanna get this one out of the way because we know we're gonna cop a severe rogering". :D
Collingwood and Essendon both drew twice in 1995, once with eachother.
What big statements are you referring to?
On today's news, Laidley was interviewed at the airport and said that Simpson and Harding were significant losses, but it gives a couple of other guys a chance, and we go over there thinking we will win. Pretty stock standard response from...
Oops! I meant Glass, not Gaspar.
Funnily enough, I'd also prefer a shoot-out. because when our forward line fires it can kick decent scores... but when the delivery is poor/infrequent or the forwards aren't taking their chances, they are terrible and will struggle to kick 10-12 goals...
Good stuff Ozzult...
So how would you attack thre three-pronged forward line of Rocca, Petrie and Morrell?
Gaspar on Rocca, Carroll on Petrie and Haynes on Morrell? It becomes the age-old quandary of size vs speed/mobility.
Can McDougall hold down a second ruck spot, allowing Gardiner...
Could someone please be a good sport and put up a likely squad of 22 in the next few days?
Porthos did a brilliant post a few weeks ago (before the North vs Port game) which was pretty much spot on. Didn't help us though - we still got flogged! :D
Is there a WAFL round this weekend, or is...
Probably stating the obvious here, how about getting an old finals Record (GF 91/92/94 spring to mind) and scanning a pic from there, and re-sizing it.
The mugshots would probably have the head in the same position as Sampi's, possibly making the morph easier?
The AFL Yearbook (2001 edition) has season stats leaders going back to 1981. In that time the highest tally & average were by North's Gary Dempsey in 1982 : 940 hit outs in 24 games @ 39.2 per game
I think the way hit outs have been recorded over the years has changed several times, as in...
Sounds a lot like Porter at North (and previously Carlton). Has always done better when in the ruck for a whole game, rather than being used off the bench.
It's not me saying he's a dud... I do a fair bit of reading & posting on a Hawthorn messageboard (which features many BigFooty regulars) and the consensus there seems to be that is a second to third string ruckman.
I rate him as a ruckman who can take a few marks around the ground and bob up...
I agree. At HawkHQ the consensus seems to be that the Chick-French-Embley deal is very unbalanced, with French being a dud and Embley being an even bigger dud. (anyway I suspect any imbalances would be alleviated with some draft picks flying about).
I reckon Embley has a lot of ability, but...
I did NOT give him permission to "borrow" my car. At least he was nice enough to paint it for me though...
By the way, have you seen a counsellor about the coke problem?
Carry on Jod, this is sensational.
I understand completely, and I never said he had a bad game. But as per our converasation on the weekend, it's a matter of perception... I rate such players differently from how you do, and (it seems) from how most others do too. Nothing wrong with my or your angle, they are just different...
Neutral viewpoint, don't care if you don't count 'em or don't like 'em :
5. Braun - good four quarters, won the hard ball, used it well
4. Fletcher - destroyed us in the firrst half to set up the win with Braun
3. Chambers - provided a lot of spark with his pace
2. Phil Matera - lively...
Braun, Fletcher and Chambers were very impressive today, and Phil Matera and Williams were lively up forward. Defenders didn't need to do much, because your midfield killed ours, and we had no system in moving the ball forward. The scoreboard flattered us, we were absolutely belted, much like...
not at all - I haven't had a problem with you personally, or even taken real exception to things you have said. All a matter of perception on your part, that the dislike is mutual.
Without going extensively into my posting habits, most of my 6000+ were when I was on night shift and was awake...
Whose integrity should be questioned, Frodo?
A person who has an opinion and sticks by it, or a person who makes insane player judgements and deletes a thread when he gets absolutely caned in an argument because of a pesky little thing called common sense (by a silly little girl, no less)...
Isn't this Cummings' main problem... a couple of big bags, and 20 games of going almost kickless? Not what most would want from a full forward.
This is what Sav used to do at Collingwood. Now he is on a HFF for North kicking 2-3 a week, rarely more, rarely less, but consistently 2-3. Does a...
Well played to the Parrots, and even though we beat you fair and square on the day, the 44 point margin belied the struggle of the second half, and didn't indicate how close it got in the last quarter. I think of those 8 last-quarter goals, 7 of those would have been from the middle of the...
