Weird in what way?.....Brayshaw is the reigning Sandover Medallist, so the top of the WAFL elite tree. WCE delisted him because he wasn't deemed AFL good enough. Not sure how he is going to be interested in playing a secondary role in WCER VFL team, when he is EP number one player and EP are...
He is in terms of being one of the elite WAFL players who wouldn't be interested in playing VFL for WCER.....why would we....past it in terms of AFL and been there done that with WCE......like Clark, West et al...plus others Freo have delisted....not sure signing the next level down of WAFL...
Sandover Medallist Hamish Brayshaw was ex WCE, yet suits up for EP, can't see him or other EP boys in Scott, Jones , Schumacher and Crowden, Perth's Constable & Simpson, EF Turner & Joyce, Subi's Clark, Foley and Schofield, WP Meadows and West etc etc being interested in playing for WCER in a...
Not exactly sure, because as you say, the obvious clubs like EP and Perth aren't interested. But who is to say at the end of the year, another club might be feeling the pinch financially, despite their current success.
Come end of the day for WCE to get that development for their youngsters and...
Spot on GWS.
No WAFL club wants to work with WCE, especially after their alignment with EP. But hey perhaps since Pyke has taken over from Nesbit, maybe WCE could enquire again?..that's if they are even interested.
Considering the WCER game is at 10am on the same day as WCE/Richmond game, would WCE keep a player just in case one goes down in the pre game warm up? Players pinging a hammy in the warm up last minute has happened before.
Surely Ryan will be on managed minutes if playing at any level next week? Good to see Ryan back though, definitely a match winner who can bring a bit of that much needed spark back into that WCE forward line.
GWS will be interesting the quality of those non AFL players in the Freo and WCE reserve sides.....obviously a lot of under 22 players who missed out on getting drafted or the recently delisted. Could see a lot of rinse and repeat off cuts from other AFL lists too. Can't see many of the good...
Never said you or Ljp said those comments, just what others in the room had said, and why I said what I said. Never thought you really understood what I originally said in the first place TBH. But Ljp does I guess from his previous post.
Seems like from your last post, you are being a bit too...
Mate you read the room as well as Rob Wiley coaches....comments like it's akin to "surburban footy", "only a feeder comp", "pull out and see how long the comp survives", " a bunch of accountants & tradies v up n coming AFL wannabees" doesn't really ooze invested or being an avid WAFL follower...
Kudos for going in to bat for your fellow WCE fan there and calling out my condescending ways for being a high horse riding, landline, fax loving, surburban footy feeder comp fan watching footy in 2022....
Apologies for sounding specific to you in my comment, was intended to be a general reference merely on my observation from what I have read on the WCER thread here about the WAFL. Kudos for all your efforts in flying the WAFL flag here on big footy....they are appreciated.
Out of interest are...
One of those games is v Peel, so happy WCER putting a spanner in their final plans....though Peel will have 14/15 AFL players as well....game on....think the last one is v Cl, so SF, EF and SD fans won't be complaining if WCER win that one... the Perth fans might though....
I guess this where the invested WAFL fan and the not so invested WAFL fan will always differ in this argument....so if those few concessions WCE seek, were granted, and in an injury reduced season, WCER potentially could field a side of eighteen 5 -12 point players then ....pretty sure no WAFL...
I didn't realize East Freo had played in the VFL?....oh you mean my 2nd team...I guess in the 70's it was the done thing for every WAFL fan to have a VFL club they kind of followed....yep thank fudge for WCE bailing out Footscray back in the day.....without it, that ex Footscray coach wouldn't...
Would of thought the WAFL's mere existence is the only reason why WCE won their first two flags and set them on their merry way to financial success....don't remember many E.S born and bred players in those 92 & 94 teams
It's a pity JK's body is cooked, he could easily kick 50 in the WAFL. I reckon his presence might even entice some of those possible delisted WCE players to hang around...and a few recruits.
Ah Chee signed for SF early Oct and Hutchings for WP early Nov from memory...Would of thought WCER was alive then as Wiley was appointed coach mid November.....always difficult though signing to play reserves for a club that has given you the flick....which will always be WCER problem...unless...
I thought WCE contributed to the funding of football in WA, the WAFL is a tier of WA football and get a slice, buy out your WAFC license then and go to the VFL....obviously it's cheaper not too, that's why WCE continue to contribute to WA footy as they do I guess.
Money can't buy you passion, look at WP, on the bones of their arse financially a few years back, but all their good WAFL players in Black, Nelson, Keitel, Knott etc stayed because of the very thing you think money will buy WCER.....they bleed WP red n blue. Same as Rogers, Mountfort, Bolton...
Agree with the importance of WCER having a core of good players, just can't see any current existing elite WAFL player wanting to play for WCER.....unless it's for big bucks. Peel's quality core are mainly Peel born n bred, thus have a connection and desire to play for the club....WCER being...
I guess it doesn't help when WCE and Freo can dip their hands into a WAFL clubs list, and recruit players last minute, with no come back whatsoever....or financial recompense.....the WAFL clubs just have to smile and wave....I know it's business and providing an individual/s an opportunity to...
Well done SF for sticking to their guns then...it looked like it won them a flag....probably wouldn't of won it with a cooked Sumich sitting at FF.....anyway good luck to WCE finding a suitor in the WAFL....looks like it may be a case of Nesbitt dipping his short arms into those deep pockets of...
Surely Sumich playing CHB for SF would of been earlier on in his career?....happens all the time now days with young talls, expands their footy nous apparently.... good on SF being before their time....
Considering the closeness of the WAFL comp this year, those fringe listed WCE boys each could of been show casing their talent in competitive teams with a chance of winning, instead of running around getting thumped most weekends.... pretty sure their individual development would of been...
