Never really lived up to his potential. Should have made a far greater impact with a body like that.Lucky to have survived this long. A bit of a disappointment.
Do you mean HALE? There's only one of him. I've seen an "S" added to his name in too many postings now. Or is it some sort of new nickname or derogatory term I fail to understand?
Just heard on the news that he has a calf injury and that he will play most of the game from off the bench. Where's the sense in that? Surely if he is not 100% he should not be in the side. He could put off his farewell game to next week's game against Melbourne (and have a better chance of...
No it's not just you. Simpson has been doing it for years. His disposal definitely leaves a lot to be desired. But whenever someone points this out on this forum they get everyone else jumping down their throat defending our great captain.
Agree with this. Simpson's courage and ability cannot be questioned, but his disposal can be exremely frustrating, especially when he turns the ball over and a scoring opportunity is lost, or given to the opposition.
It was a life suspension. He was charged with striking, kicking and attempting to kick two Geelong players (not in the head). Kicking was considered a very cowardly act in those days, which is why the tribunal came down so hard on him ("to stand down for life"). As well as this Geelong player...
I and others on this forum have been pointing out Simpson's shocking disposal for years but for some reason many just do not see it, or don't want to! He has been getting away with it far too long and doesn't seem interested in rectifying it. Yes he gets heaps of the ball and his courage cannot...
Yep. He fumbled an easy mark in the 50 in the last quarter and cost North a goal. Then fumbled again when receiving a handball--again in the 50. Besides that though he had a fairly good game.
How long is he going to get away with it?? Not blaming him for the loss today, but he undoes so much of his good work by kicking straight to the opposition. Three times he won the ball out of the centre--and each time you could pick out the Collingwood player who was going to mark it. In the...
I thought McCartney kicked the winner in his last game.
Very bad luck for Harding but really, without wanting to kick the man while he's down, you can just about count on one hand the really good games he has played. His performance against Essendon this year was one of his best. And I think...
You've summed it up perfectly. But you've only noticed this now? I and several others have been pointing this out for years, but always get howled down by others who think that our captain is a sacred cow who can't be criticised in any way. His possessions are meaningless and the vast majority of...
Kicked two goals in the dying minutes when it didn't matter. Did little or nothing for the rest of the game. No, Harding has led a charmed life for the past few weeks. He simply doesn't do enough and misses too many easy shots. Can't blame Laidley for this one.
Le Cras really lifted his game after half-time. Did some useful things but missed two shots on goal. He can only improve.
Sinclair's bringing down that Hawthorn player who was about to kick the ball into the teeth of goal was great to see. Mitchell I think it was.
No comparison mate. Lloyd still has his input for Essendon even if they don't win. But Watt does little for the side even when our midfield fires. Of course it's easier to play down back when the players further up the field stop the ball coming down so much, but even then Watt has not impressed.
So others are finally starting to see the light on Watt. How long is Laidley going to persevere with him? I agree he could do better in the forward half but I don't believe he has done anywhere near enough to be kept in the side week after week. This is his eighth year with the club for goodness...
I've always maintained that Watt would be better suited in the forward half. He is just not good enough to hold down full-back and the sooner Laidley realises this and begins looking for a replacement the better.
Sad to note this past player died yesterday. Laurie played with North in 1940--9 games and 3 goals. A serious knee injury ended his career before the 1941 season began. His father played with Essendon Town--the team North merged with in 1922.
Unfortunate that he has missed the big re-union by...
Re: Shannon Watt...........crucified
I don't say that Watt is the only disappointing player in the side, Woodson, but he has been disappointing on the whole over the past couple of years and still managed to keep his place.
As for North's comeback last night if we had had a half decent FB...
