    Matty Warnock

Greatpickup. Agree he needs to be on Tall 2 or 3 tho.

    Review Changes v. St. Kilda.

Warnock will be having nightmares all week about Kozi and Riewoldt. I would put Hickey on Riewoldt, as he demonstrated he has the mobility, fitness and ticker to go with such a ranging CHF as the Hun. This leaves Thompson to sit on Kozi, body to body, its the only match-up Bluey can make. Wilko...

    Coach puzzled, from Suns website

Another way of looking at it Sman is that the opposition uses the first half to settle their new combinations (due to resting tyros, blooding youngsters, posi changes/augmentations). In second half they destroy the new clubs, and its all business as usual. Meanwhile GC or GWS build up the...

Round 10 Collingwood v Gold Coast

Agree, Hickey and Sexton were shining lights. Russell did a lot of good stuff, and Wilko's tussle with Dale THomas was absorbing. He will have learnt a lot from that match-up. I've already posted that players need to make their decision re possession BEFORE they start looking for Gablett to...

Review GC vs. Port. Round 9.

Just watching the replay of the Dogs game in Darwin. With the usual luck, GC could have been 5 goals ahead at Q1 time with their tail up. But the early inaccuracies set the dreaded Uncertainty Curse into action and the game and the team started to fall away - as usual. But the positives...

The jump from 1st to 2nd year.

I believe that the Hobart Demons or Canberra Demons would be apt. The GCvGWSvDees games will be right up there for intensity if not skill. Great two quarter effort by Suns v Kangas, who are a much bigger physical side. When Thompson returns, Bock and Warnock get the rotation they need to...

Review Suns vs. Fremantle. Round 6.

Wattever the hoo-haa being driveled upon, just keep Harley Bennell away from any FReo recruiters. Do not allow him to even look at the Freo coaching box. Especially ban Brian Taylor from commenting on the game re Bennelll being a Mandurah boy ... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaghhhh :thumbsd:

    Injury Official Injury Thread.

Achilles are nasty things. I'm not counting on him being back this year. To rush his recuperation is folly.

    A neat summation ST. :thumbsu:

    2012 list management.

I'd suggest Fraser is a certainty to go (ruck coach). Bit hard on Moss and Flanagan who haven't played a game as yet. Patrick and Hutchins are keepers though. I'm guessing the Go Home Factor might enter the equation, as it did for Krakouer and Liddy last year. Whats Toy's contract status ?
  11. Black Falcon

The jump from 1st to 2nd year.

I did see a stat that said GC won 22 of its 88 quarters in 2011. So thats measurable at seasons end, but DURING the comp, I want to see competitive games for four quarters. What GC served up against LIons was a two-quarter game. Its fair to say that GC haven't hit their straps yet in '12, but...

Review Round 4. The Pineapple Grapple.

Sitting in bay 35, looked like the only mob of Suns fans were sitting behind opposite goalposts - maybe 200-300 odd. Disappointing, but the timescheduling is to blame . A twilight derby time would better suit the kiddies, who were mostly asleep by start of 4th quarter. Black-Brown-Adcock -...

How good has H Bennell been this year

Quite agree with TN as to the validity of talkback comment. Thankfully there was no nudge, nudge wink wink insider comments. Maybe Harley is just upping his next contract payment. No doubt every home state wants it youngsters to return, but curiously some are quite happy to be in a new city and...

How good has H Bennell been this year

Fellas, I'm here in WA on family business and just heard on talkback radio that there is a healthy view that Bennell will return home once his initial two year contract is done, ie at end of '12. Whether this is WA dreaming, the fact he signed with a big Sydney player management group - the...

Preview NAB Cup round 1: Suns/Dees/Lions

Aaron Hall sensational .... have forgotten about Krakouer leaving already. Damn Liam not kicking those two goals ..... straighten up sunny :D Steven May bulked up looks better option than Warnock on the gun opposition forward. Tape still much the same. All in all, still need Bock down back...

    2012 Guernsey Numbers

I hope Omeara likes the pressure of being named as No 1. Still, someones got to wear it. Will be interesting to see after a decade if Suns retire any numbers. With the list shrinking back to 38+ rookies, I wouldn't want to be Number 50 for any money, so I'm guessing Schades might get a new...

Review Rnd 1: Gold Coast vs Adelaide @ Metricon

Coad his hammy by rd 4/5 last year, so he's more than had long enough. I think they'll delay his entry back until he can get some more strength and conditioning in his body. He's on Rookie list in '12 so he'll get a lot of time in Neafl to prove his body.
  20. Black Falcon

Nathan Bock as our experienced forward.

On paper, the comparison is very much GCs way. Won't be able to evaluate until 2012 season ends re results. Safe bet tho. Confuscius: team who allows 20 goals scored mostly lose. Lethal: team who allows 13 goals scored mostly lose Paul Roos : team who allows 9 goals scored mostly lose

Nathan Bock as our experienced forward.

OK, ease up on baby-faced Tapey boy. You have to remember that on any other list in the AFL, Tape would have been blooded for a few games at max at the end of his first year on the squad. He would have been protected, but at GC he was thrown into the deep end from the beginning of the season...
  22. Black Falcon

Nathan Bock as our experienced forward.

What you guys are arguing, highlights two coaching moves that are very commendable and necessary; 1) Thompson being converted into a defender 2) Trading in an another experienced tall in Warnock. So much for the GCs strength being their defence. It proved to be as leaky of personnel...

  25. Black Falcon

Nathan Bock as our experienced forward.

The only time GCs defence became solid was with Bock at FB and Thompson at CHB. Don't mess with that formula. Thompson is actually a R/F but had to be used in defence when the season became understandably too much for Tape & May. Taylor was a revelation in defence in his two games after an...

    Aaron Hall highlights Clip

Good work Duff. Noticed it too on my researching. Checked the board and you beat me to it- by weeks. :( :footy: I reckon Aaron could be used in the team as another mid-f to forwards link. He showed in the video he can kick a goal too, and he's got nous. Another 'late-developer' good find by...

To 'Value-Add' onto the starting post, I'll add in the birthdate for each of the twenty somethings in 2012s, chronological order of course. [Daye, Stanlake delisted] It may mean something to parents whose children have their faves on the team already. Mind you, check on the GC Player Profiles...
