A 3rd Perth team I could see flopping as the supporter base has made its choice. Not many spare footy fans wanting to support a 3rd club.
IMO it would need to be a Peal team to have any chance of building a regional supporter base.
Hope it never happens.
My geography is just fine thanks.
They were in Melbourne and now they are not.
You can debate how and why it happened to the cows come home. But the end result is two teams ended their time operating in the Melbourne market and moved to two non traditional states in an effort to survive in...
The same V/AFL House that made the mistake of putting four teams in non traditional football states and burning tens of millions.
So sure, lets just keep trusting them to make the right calls.
V/AFL House does not take kindly to being told what to do..........unless its their Vic govt masters...
A politician claims that paying for Hawthorn to play in Tassie is not a waste of money. HUGE breaking news.
Of course politicians never twist facts and words to suit the agenda at the time.
UM why would any supporter offer up their team to relocate to Tasmania when the club is successful and financially viable?
Too many team in Melbourne is the problem, has been for quite some time hence the relocation of two teams already.
Agreed.
Tassie, SA and WA get together then that is a decent power base of traditional football states to push back against the VAFL and their Victorian government masters pulling the strings.
I simply do not believe that.
I heard of teams "selling" home games interstate not being forced to play home games interstate with no predetermined financial incentive / compensation.
Forcing one of the oldest MCG tenants to play a home game away from the MCG and the clubs members for no...
Well that a total croc of sh!t when the Tassie govt is going to cover $11m a year.
How many expansion sides have had $11m per annum support from the state government?
I would suggest............none.
If the Tasmanian govt isn't happy with game development in Tas by the AFL why shouldn't they do something about it themselves?
It is most definitely the kick up the backside the AFL need TBH.
AFL House are arrogant fat cats with both eyes firmly looking at their own bonuses. Doing what is...
AFL returns serve.
We will still play games in Tasmania without Tas govt funding.
Bit of a slap in the face TBH.
Personally if I was Tasmania I'd say 'great'. We will take the funding and promote a true State of Origin second tier carnival in the off season and other AFL type events without...
Hawthorn the family club.
Raking in the cash from pokies and an industry that ruins lives.
Kennent in PR mode comes out and syas gambling is legal.
Well so is smoking tabacco and drinking.
Obvious that the family club lacks the moral fortitude of a growing number of other clubs to turn their...
At least with a black and white strip watching all those wins before colour tv still works for you.
Collingwood is a skid mark on the toilet bowl of Victorian football. Once were relevant but now a shadow of their previous selves. Without gaming revenue this so called most successful club...
Why bother discussing it, lets revisit this in 2050.
MCG ground dimension chosen by the team that finishes higher is an obvious fix that could help reduce the inequality dictated to the comp from AFL house.
But still Vics on here complain about even giving that up.
The point is not how many times a club travels in finals its how much have they had to travel in the season.
Its not rocket science but dont bother replying. With both eyes firmly shut and fingers in both ears your responses are not surprising and very predictable.
Right. But the conversation is two parts. (1) Home ground / non travel advantage being gifted to Vic clubs at the end of a long season where (2) interstate clubs, especially WA clubs, have needed to travel extensively more than Vic based clubs.
So the Dogs in 2016 travelled home many times...
Thats very scientific of you.....
Comparing Collingwood to to WA teams re travel. So because the Pies travelled to Adelaide for the first time in round 4 and won that dispells the claim that interstate teams travelling to the gf isnt a serious dissadvantage?
Troll post of the year. Well done.
Can we just change the name back to VFL and stop the pretense that its actually a national competition.
Vic govt just bribed their way to retain the GF.
Every year the Eagles pay 50% of their profits as dividends to the WAFL to fund WA grass roots football development and the competition. So all those WA kids drafted into the AFL have been developed from West Coast profits over the years. Franklin, Cripps, half the GC and GWS list, Carlton...
Eagles with the lowest AFL distribution but tops the profits and net assest with zero gaming revenue.
Collingwood would be losing money every year without gaming revenues.
So much for the biggest and best club on and off the field Eddie. Time for a change there. How van a club with so many...
