How would he know the sexuality of the person he used it against?
Given the AFL openly promotes LBGTQ+ inclusivity, it's actually not that difficult to work out why they don't want players using homophobic slurs on the field.
Even if it was in the heat of the moment, what sort of mind resorts to spewing out a homophobic slur? I mean, there are plenty of non-homophobic insults in the arsenal to use.
I'm confident to the point of certainty that in the same situation I wouldn't be saying something similar, even in...
The cop in question should not have leaked it to anyone. What the hell was he/she thinking?
That's an action that would have had me sacked in jobs I have held.
Good article by Richard Hinds pointing out the wider issue.

I made that point before. It's a big deal to be in front of an AFL crowd doing the coin toss. You'd be understandably nervous, and be a chance to muck it up as a result.
The problem with McGuire is that he can't understand that as he seems to lack empathy. So last night to him was simply an...
That's the problem for mine. McGuire often doesn't seem to be able to think before he speaks.
As I said before, it would be a big deal for someone to go out in the middle of the ground and do the coin toss, but McGuire couldn't show a bit of empathy for the person involved - instead the mouth...
It's a big moment for people to be out in the centre doing the coin toss I would imagine.
Despite whether said coin toss is aesthetically pleasing or not, surely it wouldn't be too hard for the morons in the commentary box (be they McGuire or anyone else) just to shut up and let the person...
Maybe someone could post the requirements for a "proper" coin toss......ie preferred height, rotation speed, angle, landing position etc.....maybe someone could obtain them from McGuire?
That actually didn't answer my question.
The way I read things is that you are criticizing people for putting forward their views on the incident and the bloke in question.
You seem to forget that this is a forum, and that's what forums are for.
It's to add further information - ie hitting an unsuspecting individual - rather than to imply a polar opposite.
Using the above logic you could say, "why do people say someone made a terrible mistake, does that mean someone can make a fantastic mistake?".
The AFL won't like that, I wonder if they would try and head it off (eg with a private payout)?
If they couldn't do that, then I reckon they would have no problem throwing this thug under the bus.
And all this would just confirm how completely unprincipled they are.
