What's your rationale for that?
A limited form of free agency where Melbourne could just sign an undrafted ruckman would be more appropriate IMO.
Having said that, I'm against it all, part of the challenges of list management.
I'm also intrigued by the logic that Scharenberg shouldn't play AFL because he needs highly skilled players around him to play well.
Jack Watts notwithstanding, the players in the AFL tend to be as highly skilled as you can get.
Best case scenario is a poor man's Tom Hawkins or Leigh Brown.
So basically only if a premiership contender was in the market for a relatively versatile 2nd ruck and was already very short.
Kept thinking Carlton wouldn't be the worst place in the world for him but for the fact with...
Just quietly, every time the words James Hird or Chris Grant are mentioned here I'm mentally comparing the w***er Essendon and Bulldog's supporters to this other w***er:
Yo, Yo other 14 clubs, I respect you, and I'm going to let you finish and that but James Hird and Chris Grant were the...
Good post all round, however what really resonated with me was the ability of clubs to sell memberships and entrance supporters with the "come and see our new star" and "imagine how good we're going to be in 5 years time" lines regarding draft picks.
To me this is a phenomenon that was...
Well according to the Crows they were going to take Tippett until Sellar unexpectedly slipped, I know who I'd believe;)
Also agree there should be a statute of limitations, say 5 - 7 years on discussing whether a draft pick constitutes a "steal."
You can't really count any of the pre-1991 drafting as real though. How players were drafted without nominating is total Victorian BS.
Jarman did however **** the Crows over pretty bad in 1991 through agreeing to sign, the Crows then reserved him one of their safe 10 spots and then Hawthorn...
Funny remembering how highly some of the bigs were rated coming into the 2006 draft such as Gumbleton, Hansen, Reid, Riedwvolt, Sellar, Thorpe and the Browns that Tippett has arguably outstretched them all.
Also interesting to note how they're almost doing well in the reverse of their draft...
In the Adelaide Sunday Paper South Australian U18 coach named his likely draftees from South Australia, in no particular order (Ok the order they were in the paper) they were:
Tyler Brimacombe (Sturt)
Mathew Broadbent (WWT)
Paul Cahill (Sturt)
Phil Davis (North Adelaide)
Chris...
Is there any reason it needs to last for a whole 4 days though?
Could it be done over a weekend or perhaps even a 3 day weekend to minimise it's disruption to schooling?
You do have yours, and I have mine. But I don't hold that against you.
Nope, it's SANFL League, Reserves and Under 19s Grand Final week. The only league that's not affected is the Under 17s, which this will be the first time in years someone will actually be drafted from. And Leather Magnet...
It's a slap in the face of the SANFL, still the second best competition of Australian Rules Football.
It's a direct implication that the TAC Cup, the WAFL, the QAFL, the TFL etc. etc. etc. are all more important than the SANFL.
If this problem affected one Victorian player (let alone two)...
Just quietly, you may not have noticed, but 21 years ago the VFL became the AFL:rolleyes:
If the Victorian leagues had their grand final this weekend how much do you want to bet that the AFL would put it back a week.
Typical Prictorian imperialism.
