Monday 4 February 2008: Port Macquarie, Australia: Australian travellers are poised to witness the lowest fare ever offered in the Australian market with Virgin Blue set to launch a 1 cent sale to celebrate its brand new flights to Port Macquarie on the New South Wales, Mid North Coast. The first flight is scheduled to depart Sydney as DJ 1185 at 11.35am and arrive in Port Macquarie at 12.30pm.
The new service is part of the airline’s regional growth strategy and continues to deliver on the commitment Virgin Blue made back in 2000 when the airline first launched, to bring competition and affordability to the heart of Australia’s regional communities, not just capital cities.

To celebrate the occasion in true Virgin Blue style, the airline will offer 1,000 1 cent one-way fares for flights between Port Macquarie and Sydney, INCLUSIVE of taxes and surcharges ($41.73). The special 1000 1 cent Internet only “Fast and Furious” fares will go on sale at 8.00pm tomorrow Tuesday 5th February for four hours until midnight Tuesday 5th February or until sold out. The travel period is from 6 February 2008 and 30 June 2008.

Those competition prices are bordering on ridiculous. Why have something so cheap when really you are covering something up that really needs fixing but you can't be bothered to do?

I would actually go with someone like Qantas who do just about everything perfect and that I know that they will actually look after you instead of the elcheapo shitheads who can't be stuffed looking after your needs and wants.

Qantas > every other airline

You might think that Qantas are shit but you will find that the others are worse.

Nope.

Qantas is the Crown Lager of the sky.

They like to brand themselves as a premium operator, but in reality they are just as awful (if not worse) as the rest, just more expensive.

Their 'Spirit of Australia' thing is a crock of shit also. Service and reliability standards are dropping, and the number of jobs being shipped off shore is on the way up.

I went with virgin blue and they were great. Good staff, the chick was funny aswell. I told em that the radio wasn't working and they got it fixed straight away.
I wouldn't go with Virgin Blue. They are too up themselves for a start. They think that they are better than the rest. Way too cocky for my liking.
Jetstar are shit. My parents took a flight with Jetstar and said that they might be cheap but they certainly don't look after you.
Tiger Airways - same with Jetstar. Except my parents never went with them and won't. Once bitten twice shy.

I will always fly with Qantas because they always look after you. The crew don't have a cocky attitude where they think that they are the greatest. They have a great customer service department. And they are pure Australian.

My brother and his friend now work in Canberra, but were coming back to Perth for christmas.

My brothers friend decided to fly Virgin Blue as it was about $50-100 cheaper. The flight was originally meant to have lay over in Melbourne, however virgin decide to change his flight and it ended up being a lay over in Brisbane, which turned it into an 8 hour flight with nothing to do:D
