Sorry if this has been shared but I'd never heard of it!

100k seat 1956 Olympic Stadium at Princes Park when the G was deemed unsuitable.

Of course they later returned to the G as the solution.

Would probably be another white elephant, but cool to imagine.

I had heard of this before, but had forgotten. Imo could only ever have been plausible in the 1950s before mass car ownership. The 19 tram would have got a fair workout though

Inner Circle line would've been fully recommissioned as a passenger line, providing passenger access direct from Mernda and the City and from line and via interchange at North Melbourne for the lines that run through there
