Griff plays his 150th game this week if I'm not mistaken (and if he's picked).

With Coons coming back I guess there's a chance MC might ask Ryan not to make the Darwin trip so he's right for the Geelong game, but I'd love to see him up against Gary Ablett.

Great service over 150 games anyway, Griff, whenever it is.

got him at the start of the year at $251 to win the Brownlow. Any chance?? God I hope so!
I wouldn't mind a piece of those odds! Wouldn't be anything like that now.

The biggest thing working against him winning the Brownlow this year is that the WB are unlikely to be in the top 8. For some reason the umpires have accepted the doctrine that you can't have been BoG if your team lost. (I blame the idiot ex-players in the media for promulgating this stupidity).

However he does qualify under the other clause that is almost an essential these days: you have to be a midfielder.

Anyway I hope you win your bet, MD.

In the past 2 weeks he has had 24 inside 50's.

That alone in 2 games is more than what what 90% of AFL have achieved through the whole year. (Only 72 players have more than 24 i50's for 2012).

Cheers mate! He is at $21 now for the record.

Watched the This or That vid with Griffen and what a truely funny bloke he seems to be. Have met him playing cricket once but yeah very good interview. It's a shame he doesn't do many after being murdered early on in his career about the richmond game. Also handled the question about who do you love more out of his mum & Dad well considering his father has passed away. Can't blame Stevens though as he prob didn't know about it.

Did anyone else see Brad Scott's comments about Griffo-- basically said North couldn't stop him and he regards him as one of the top 10 players in the AFL and doesn't understand why he isn't talked about along with Dangerfield etc.

Good onya Scotty.

Yep bash this up your ginger: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/eagle-eye-on-daws-haul-20130511-2jff0.html

"Scott praised Ryan Griffen, whose 34 possessions were 14 more than any teammate, describing him as a genuine superstar who would rank in the 10 best players in the competition. ''I think he's just about the most dynamic midfielder in the game,'' Scott said. ''The Bulldogs must be frustrated, because we all talk about great players like [Patrick] Dangerfield, Griffen's well and truly in their category if not beyond. We had a really hard time curtailing his influence.''"

Firt 40 disposal agem for any player in 2013, first game as Captain of our club, Ryan just keeps getting better and better. Truly elite midfielder.

What an absolute gun. Would love to have him at Port. Daniel Stewart + 2nd rounder?

That was a joke. What I've come here to say is, I'm glad this guy is sticking it out with the Dogs. I'm sure this isn't news to any of you, the current media modus operandi is such that if you are one of the stars of the competition not playing a top 4 club, there is intense external pressure created to jump ship for better premiership aspirations. The Dogs went through their top 4 phase and now the heart and soul of your club should be fodder for the 'big' Victorian clubs (or new franchises). How convenient for them.

This argument completely ignores the possibility of competing again. Things can turn around very quickly in this league, and there's no reason that you're not a year or two away (five year plans are for girls).

In sum, I reckon outside of "Trevor" Boak, there isn't a player I'd like to see more lift the cup or have Charlie dangling around his neck.

You had me going until you said "five year plans are for girls" wtf?

The point being that you can turn a team around in an off-season or two. The 'long rebuild' never ends.

Ahhh I think you missed the thrust of it ... she does understand your point.

Anyway, metaphors aside, I agree with you and your comments about Griffen are generous (but spot on). Quality player and quality guy.

Cheers. I hope Port gives it a shake this year.

Fair enough. Sorry for any offence caused.

yeah griffin has been a absolute gun for us. it has finally kind of clicked for him. he was a supportive roll player for a while. best 22. but relied on cooney, boyd, cross, Johnson and others to get us over the line. now he is the one being "the guy" to win us game. getting lots of the pill and is elite by foot, also has pace. doggies fans love the griff.
He is a SA boy aswell, which I am sure you guys know.
Speaking of 5 year plans, Port shows how quicka turn around can be. I am amazed by port. It appeared last year, that no one wanted to coach them. Worried that coaching them, might wreck them, and not be appealing for other coaching jobs. Hinkley gets the job. Hinkley appears to be a great coach, but he also realised all the young talent you guys have. Not many teams (apart from expansion) that has as much young talent as Port Adelaide. Turns out it is a dream coaching job, as Port as on the rise. Good to see you guys beat the crows on the weekend aswell. Wingard is a absolute gun!!!
