Hey there everyone - I seem to recall while I was living overseas the ABC (may have been someone else) screened a doco on the events that led to the AFC's entry into the AFL. Can anyone shed some light for me? Anyone know how I could get my hands on a copy?

I don't think it was the ABC or i cannot remember it, but Fox Footy did a football flashback special a few years ago. Other than that, i cannot help.
 
Other than the intro to the 10 year video, the 10 year special channel 7 did in 2000, and the previously mentioned Fox Footy episode, I don't recall anything else on the issue.

Be a great doco to do though. Heck, sell it to Hollywood and turn it into an epic.

Yeah fox footy did a two part special as part of the headliners show.

No go, mind you the inforamtion i gave them probably wasn't very helpful. "umm, a two part series, umm a couple of years ago? Ummm about how the AFC came into being? Headliners series?"

Fox sports wont have it, they were a seperate entity from Fox Footy. Fox footy was a foxtel owned channel, whereas Fox Sports is run by a different entity.

Surely someone on the main board was recording the headliners series.

Was a great series episodes I can remember

Waverley
West Coast Eagles
Peter Crimmins
Adelaide/Port Adelaide AFL war 1990
South Melbourne moving to Sydney

There was more, but no others are coming to mind now. I am pretty sure there was one as well about the lights going out at Waverley.

Yeah it was a great show

I think the 2 part Peter Crimmins episode won an ASTRA award for best documentary.

Some other episodes came to mind one was the Sasche story about the Torrens player that went over to Victoria played with Footscray and broke his neck and ended up becoming a paraplegic. There was one about Peter Motley and another on the premiership drought at Collingwood that was broken in 1990 etc

damn I miss that show, surely there is enough of a market for a dvd release of all the episodes.

Yeah Fox would of made lots of money if they sold all their things like that on DVDs!
 
Hey guys, thanks for your help, particulalry relapse. I've sent Foxtel an email, i'll let you guys know if i hear anything back. In the meantime, hopefully someone at BF will see this thread and will have a copy they don't mind....well...copying.

It would be great to have a dedicated footy channel again, particularly as i missed the last one.

The program that Fox put on was called "Bith Of The Crows" I have a copy if anyone is interested
