1994

The David Schwarz thread on the main board got me thinking about the great man back in 1994, so I looked around a bit and came up with this team from that rollercoaster season. Feel free to challenge it as I was only young then and the positions are memory based. Some excellent players and heaps of firepower in there but not a lot of depth.

B: YEATS WIGHT PRYMKE

HB: M FEBEY NEITZ S FEBEY

C: DYSON G LOVETT TINGAY

HF: LYON SCHWARZ LOVELL

FF: CHARLES JACKOVICH PIKE

R: STYNES B LOVETT VINEY

INT: OBST NORRISH KOWAL

ROHDE and GRINTER(fading towards retirement) DOYLE and IRVING(backup rucks) and the rest. HILTON, HOPGOOD, SULLIVAN, GILBERT, LAMPRILL, CAMPBELL, MOLLOY("The Mutant" a seriously ugly man.) All played in 1994.

aah 94, Schwarta you star. Our forward line that year was awesome, we got stooged having to go to WC for the prelim final after beating Carlton, and smashing the Dogs. I still have the highlights tape from that year, its always good to look back on

I owe my love of footy to this season!!

A young 8 year old I fell in love with being at the MCG every week!!

Same here I was only 6 though. Flew over with dad for the Prelim.

And me, I still remember watching Lyon kick those 10 goals against Footscray. Such a great player, shame the Wiz wrecked his back going for all those speccies.

Also Jackovich was on fire that year but he hurt his back and missed the 2nd half of the year. What could have been if Neitz,Lyon,Jackovich,Schwarze played together for longer and stayed fit.

Pike didn't really play that much, not that he didn't have the ability.

Nor Jako but that was more through injury for memory he kicked a serious amount of goals up to about round 10 and gone for the rest of the season and punted off to the Bulldogs in 1995 - the draft pick we got in return was Yze???

I remember Jason Norrish and Phil Gilbert playing quite a bit for us.

Was Stevie Stretch still with us that year?

The side I remember:
B: Rohde - Wight - Yeats
HB: B.Lovett - Neitz - S.Febey
C: Tingay - Viney - Stretch
HF: M.Febey - Schwarz - Obst
F: Charles - Lyon - Kowal
R: Stynes - G.Lovett - Lovell
I: Norrish - Gilbert - Hopgood

Stretch was no longer with us, Pike played 16 games in the forward pocket, yeah Jacko only played 13 before injury. I left out Gilbert because he was garbage. I had Rhode in until I found out that Prymke played 24 games. I don't know how you left out Dyson though, I loved that guy before he headed off to the Swans.

Prymke was a very solid CHB if i remember correctly, until his unfortunate back injury. I remember one game when he was on Carey, and Neitz up forward, Carey had to be moved back on to Neitz.

I thought he was the third tall and Neitz was CHB. Oh well it was a while ago.

Was only 8 at the time so your team would probably be way more accurate I only really remember the finals series.

Am surprised with that Prymke stat I thought 95 was his year. I vaguely remember Dyson but memories of his replacement Nettlebeck stick out further in my mind.:o
