FFS the range of emotions I have been through with this club is amazing. We have the biggest hearts out of any supporter

1997 - After a disappointing 1996 after winning the pre-season comp, we get off to a bad start, and then out of nowhere, make a grand final... With glory in out hands, we drop it.

Emotion: On top of the world, to heartbreaking

1998 - Season gets off to a fantastic start, and it seems we have a chance to making up for 1997. Mid way, it falls apart, we fall into the finals and are out early

Emotion: Disappointed

1999 - 2002: The shocker years. Flashes of individual brilliance, and the retirements of some of our greats. We drafted some gems, and some duds. Seasons come and go, some with 5 wins some with 2... You eventually get used to it, losing becomes the norm, and it burns

Emotion: Pain, pain and more pain. Become hardened by it

2003 - The first signs of improvement. Move up in the ladder and show signs we are gonna have a crack soon

Emotion: Excitement, anticipation

2004 - THE year, it all fell into place.. for a while. We're probably the best team of the year, but a young and inexperienced side couldn't get past port in the prelim

Emotion: Shattered, but positive

2005 - Another good year, top 4 again and after a mind blowing win in the QF, fall over the the swans at home. MASSIVE chance gone begging. Injures never helped, but we had it in our own hands

Emotion: Anger with heartache

2006 - Average to say the best. Nothing year, fell into the finals and wiped out by the Dee's

Emotion: None

2007 - Gap year. Nothing went right, new coach, new players...

Emotion: Frustration

2008 - Off to a decent start, followed by a 6 week period that would haunt us. 2nd half of the season was awesome, and once again fell short at a prelim. Not the best team of the year by any stretch of the imagination, but getting to close and so far hurts the most. Banger, our inspiration retires.

Emotion: Proud, mixed in with heartbreaking pain and tears after seeing our hero bow out. Got further than we thought we would, but should be better

Overall, we've seen it all in 10 years ... How much longer do we have to cop it before we taste success? I 'aint going anywhere, but gee wizz it's taking years off my life!

All you can do is keep the faith.... but man, it's tough at times.

Yeah our time will come. No doubts about that.
But last night really hurt making the Prelim 3 times, Grand final 0 times.

yeh, reading that just makes me angry, upset, frustrated and just about every emotion under the sun. this years prelim had a different feel, the previous ones i had so much expectation and they were the most dissapointing loses ever. this year i was hardly upset, but who knows, we could have won 2 flags if injuries hadnt of happened

LOL! Try being a supporter in late 70's through the 80's, standing at Moorabin watching my team get flogged game after game will haunt me forever!

I was confident going into Saturday Night, but clearly we were beaten by a better team, and one which will give Geelong a scare.

I'm probably more saddened at the fact that Harves is retiring, but hell, if at quarter time against the Roos this year, had you told me we'd make a prelim, I would have put my life on it not happening.

So I'm very proud of how our boys did, it's just a shame that we had to finish with 2 pretty shocking finals performances.

I never really paid as much attention to footy as I do now untill around 2003. So it's been alright for me. I remember being sad in 97, but 98-02 was just a blur... Pretty much remember the GF's but thats about it.

Hopefully we're not heading back to those times anytime soon...

Had our chances. At least it's not watching St.kilda in the 1980's. That would of been extremley painful.

its been shit yes, but when our day comes saints fans, by god have mercy on the unsaintly sould for we will rule the world!!

Our time will come, Keep The Faith!

And keep on watching those greys approach!

Go the Mighty sainters!! True love!

Its been said before, and ill say it again, no other club, could love there club this much through such heartache!!

We love the saints, and one day they will love us back fellas!!
and it will be sweeeeett!!!!

I think I was more saddened on Saturday night because I realised I wouldn't see "The King" run around anymore. The loss certainly didn't help, but this was shattering.

It dawned on me later in the week that I am 26 and my team has made it to the big dance just once in my lifetime. I have now witnessed us play in 4 prelims with only 1 victory. Tough times.

It makes it hard when deciding which team to support on Saturday. I'm with the Hawks, but I'll be gutted if they get a flag and we haven't.
