The Apple Isle.
Other Teams
Glenorchy & Collingwood
Talk around the club is that Tasmania are interested in another 2 young Glenorchy players. During the Pre-season Nathan Henley trained with the Devils, and apparently impressed coach Matthew Armstrong. Nathan Henley has had a great year this year, been good in the Centre.

The other player the Devils have their eyes on, is young Brodie Moles, who is also having a decent season at the Magpies. Brodie is the son of a former Glenorchy champ. He's brother Dean is currently playing for the Glenorchy colts.

If selected they will join Ben Careless, Ben Atkin, Craig Carter, Jason Britten, Nathan Street who have also joined the Devils from the Glenorchy District Football Club.

A special good luck to young Brad Lang who will make his debut this weekend for the Devils. Have a good one Langy!

Good to see Langy in the Devils, much prefer him to play with us though, but that's just being greedy. Funny I actually said at the start of the year to my mates that all three of them would play with the Devils either this year or next, Great to see young "pinner" doing well!!!!

One thing though Scarecrow, you'll find that Dean and Brodie arn't brothers, just cousins!!!

Ah, heard someone say they were brothers.

Dean's brother is at every game, he's normally the one standing behind the goals whichever way Glenorchy's kicking too. He can play just like the other Moles's but he's lazy!!!! LoL MOles is going to kill me when he reads this!!!!

Brodie is a great player. I first saw him play in the reserves last year and was very very impressed. I think I went as far as saying the boy could get drafted. But we will just have to wait and see!!! Dean is a good, hard, solid player. What I've been told from his brother is that Klugy and others have asked him to step up his training to play in the seniors. But Dean isn't interested, want's to keep playing with his mates in the Under 19's. Which is a real shame, it's quite obvious that the boy has real talent, and has the abilty to kick the ball a counrty mile. The only thing that Dean lacks is contolling his temper. First 3 games I think he was suspended. And 1 more along the way.

The other Moles, I'm not quite sure of, But I think it maybe Brodie's younger brother, I will get back to you on that one!!!!

I haven't been around the club for awhile, I only came back this season, I attended the Hall of Fame opening game last season when we wore the Black and white again. I really couldn't get into the Storm, the jumper put me off.

I'm glad to see the Magpies back, I have been to every game bar 2 (Lauderdale and New Norfolk) I even brought by big white flag from the 1999 Grand Final out of retirement on the weekend :D

I raised it to give them a target to shoot for, and Salter in the first quarter landed to ball right on my boot, it hurt like hell, but it was a good shot :D

i'll be sending in my Almost Footy Legends in tomorrow, I am going to get some tapes, and some stamps and mail them off. got some good ones, and will hope they can make it onto the show.

Your Dad is freinds with one of my mates that I goto the footy with. Horney or Daimeon (Damien)

My dad's been around the club a long while, another guy that's been around is Russell. I'm surprised old Russell is still around, with all that shouting he does.

Used to be fun behind the goals, all the Glenorchy supporters giving it to the other players, they decided to give me and my bother a nickname when we were younger it was "Porkey Penguin" always wondered if it was an insult or just a nickname.

Your Porky Penguin? WOW, that's unbelivable. I goto the footy to nearly every week, been going since '97, I think. I too was one of those"Boy's Behind The Goals". And I still am. I just can't watch Glenorchy any other way. Do you reme, ber the grand final of '99. Well it was me who made the sign' On the 8th Day God Created Patch". You might remeber me down there. I was the one they called Dodgie. Alwasys wore a Adelaide jumper or jacket. Can't beleive your Porky Pengiun. And no it was being cruel. That's how we were just gave names to everyone. Danny Noonan was called, Spud, cause he had a head shaped like a spud. There is to many to name. What till I itell the boy's about this!!!!

Yep I remember it, I remember the other one aswell "Hamilton's Army" Used to be the only people I would know at the footy was all the guys behind the goals. Do you remember when Damian hit the guy that was the Magpie in the head with the can acting like the wrestler?

Now there is something funny :D

That Sign was Hamo's Hero's actually Scarecrow, Damian made that one. There were there, My Patch one, Damian's Hamo one and a big magpie that I payed some kid $5 to do it for me!!!! Looked really good!!!! Not sure if you remeber it though. '99 was a big year at Glenorchy, I remeber it so well. What a line up!!! Hamo, Kappler, Rhyno, Newett, Great to see Newie back down there.

One thing though mate, you shouldn't really laugh at the Magpie. He was great. On Grand Final day when he had a fight with a Platypus was legendary. Running through the banner with the boys was even funnier!!!! But my favourite Magpie moment was when he tackled the Chickenfeed Mascot to the ground in front of thw wet area boy's. He got up took a bow, and jumped the fence and had a beer with them!!!! Legend he was!!!! Pure Legend!!!!!

Ah, the good old Chickenfeed mascot, all good for a laugh, especially when some kids knocked him over and beat the living hell out of him. Really got to feel sorry for a guy that is made go out onto a football field in a chicken suit, and then to be beaten. Ireally didn't remember what the other sign said, too long ago for my poor brain ;) It was only funny because I didn't think anyone would imitate Stone Cold at the footy.I feel for the poor bloke the was hit in the head with the can though.

I had an easy way of getting a Magpie onto a banner/flag, my mum used my old Collingwood flag to get the Magpies, she traced it with a pencil and then painted it on. This year I am going to retire the flag for good, and make a new one, Grand Final week, it's going to have the boxing magpie from the back of the Glenorchy clubroom door.
