Ok, we have done Hodge VS Ball, Ball Vs Bartel, Ablett vs Bartel and pretty much every comparison possible. But this is a team based one. Who drafted the best overall out of the 2001 draft, with there selections on the table?

I couldnt fit the full poll in, so i missed out on a few players. Playfair and David Johnson should be on the Geelong list.

Overall it looks at this stage as if Geelong may have got the best group of players. West Coast got Judd , yes but Hansen and Seaby , although they have been very good for the Eagles, have both had injury concerns so I had to go with Geelong whose players from that draft have all cemented places in their team; a team which is leading the comp at the moment !

I'd go the hawks just over the cats. I'd put Hodge and Mitchell on par with Ablett and Bartell. Brown and Ladson ahead of Kelly and Johnson.

Geelong for sure, they set up there midfield with that draft and Johnson can kick a goal too.

Out of those 4, Geelong. The F/S rule helped them out a lot though.

Other than Reilly, we had a deplorable national draft IIRC. But we picked up Rutten, Mattner and Bock in the Rookie draft and Hentschel in the PSD.

Hawthorn did the best because they managed to trade Trent Croad and Luke McPharlin to get Sam Mitchell and Luke Hodge, as well as drafting well. Campbell Brown was a good get too.

Geelong probably got the best group of players, but that's aided by the fact that they were gifted Gary Ablett Jr as a F/S choice.

Excellent point VV. On reading this, I had the Hawks and Cats neck and Neck, with the Saints just behind. But it is not like the Catters had to work hard for Gaz Jr. He just appeared.
