Tambling has always been a midfielder. He is forced to play FP a few times until he puts on some weight and he usually plays up the ground. Watch him play, he gets most of his possies in the middle

IN his 2 standout games the 6 goal games against the Tigers and Blues how did he get those goals. Was it from winning the ball in marking situations or was it from hanging out the back of packs and getting the ball that spilled over the back. While it may be get goals it does not give you the title of a game winner. In reality it gives a guy near 2m tall and 100kg the title of a ****************.

No but averaging 19.25 touches a game in your first season as a 17yo in the worst midfield in the competition does.

He also averaged 24.25 in the four games leading into the Brisbane game where he was injured in the first quarter.

Pretty damn good stats for a first year player, guess thats why he was the AFLPA Best First Year Player.

First off *************** translates to soft and the second part rhymes with sock.

As for the poll I knew that the Tambling "Blunder" would win but at least it provides decent discussions to some degree. Would like to see the poll again in 12 months time if Tambling has the year that Tigers fans are hoping he does. Especially if Griffen continues to play as well as he has.

For the record, in the Carlton game Buddy took 1 contested mark. In the Tigers game he took 2 marks total(1 contested).

Firstly that was when Geelong were on fire.

Secondly, Franklin's career most amount of kicks is only 14... against Geelong.

I agree with this, the injury game should not be included in his average.

The six goals Buddy got against the Tigers, much like the 6 against the Blues were due to his agility, reading of the play and flair.
To say he just sits at the back of packs and waits for the ball is complete crap.

You are so desperate , Now you're questioning a player and how he kicks his bags of goals, Not only does Franklin avg the same or more in contested possessions and contested marks than any young kp going around, he avgs more than Tambling in both of those stats, he doesn't need to run up on the wing getting the easy ball and inflating his stats like Tambling does, While Franklin is kicking goals and having an impact on matches in the forward 50 even winning them of his own boot, Tambling on the otherhand is just a uncontested fairy gathering useless possessions playing a soft as butter brand of footy.

News flash Tambling is not a KP Franklin is supposed to be, the fact he does not do what other KP's do is there for all to see. On 1 hand Hawks fans say Franklin compares with the likes of Richo an experienced KP because they averaged similar goals per game then when it gets shown he does not do as much as an experienced KP they want to then compare him to the young KP's. It is either 1 or the other. Either he is as good as other KP's no matter the experience level or he is one of the best young KP prospects.

Apart from Terry, the fact is that most were amazed by Terry's decision to draft Tambling ahead of Franklin at the time.

As you have been pointing out constantly Tambling gets his possessions up the ground, as a link man between the defenders and forwards. He does not have to stay home and kick goals. We had more than enough players kicking goals during 06 that we did not have to rely on 2-3 like the Hawks did.

You also say that he might have won the ball in other contested situations to kick his 6 goals against the Tigers and for that fact the Blues. The stats show he had a total of 3 contested possessions for a total of 12 goals, in those 2 games, he also had a total of 9 marks (2R 7C) and of those 9 only 2 were contested. As much as people choose not to take notice of stats the fact is in this case they don't lie, Buddy does not win contested situations you clsim he does.

In fact he to show just how 'good' he was in the contests in the Tigers game he had his Career best in Uncontested Possession (16). So while his opponent was trying to win the ball(which is stupid when you are a defender) Buddy would just hang out of the contest and wait for the loose ball or the handball out the back. KP prospects don't do that they go and win their own ball, no wonder the Tigers did not select him. We prefer our KP to win their own ball rather than hang out the back of packs.

tambling was expected to go at 2. he even thoght so himself, particulary as he stayed at a hawthorn person's house (buckanera i think). there was much doubt if he would make it to 4.

franklin had big questions over his attitude. it was thought that although he was talented, he may not be able to back this up with application and work ethic. the go-home factor was also a worry. after two seasons these havent been disproved.

most judges (including burgatron) had it tambling before franklin. history so far tells us that franklin has been better, but i wonder if this will last, considering many of the recruiters believed tambling was second best in teh draft and also franklin's question marks mentioned earlier.

I would take the opinion of a guy that actually talks to recruiters at the clubs.
