don't get me wrong i enjoyed our win tonight.. but is it possible we will have a repeat of 2004 where we win too many games and pay the price in 07 when having an 05 year? Sure we have some decent youngsters as we displayed today but there are several clubs whos young list clearly outguns ours, Hawthorn, Essendon, Fremantle, Bulldogs for example are all above us in youth and we can't afford to skip a year in our rebuilding process

there are some key differences

we won't miss out on round 1 & 2 picks
we can trade for players that suits us rather than juts getting anyone avaialble
we have weeded out most of the problem players who didn't want or couldn't handle the change the club was going through
we are into the 4th year of pagan's reign- so the team is gelling better and understanding what pagan is trying to do
there are no more priority picks- so the difference between finishing bottom 2 and 10th is not as big a gap

btw

freo have truck loads of talent but have achieved nothing- talent along does not guarantee success, its about hardwork
essendon- lets wait and see how they go before claims are made on how good their talent is
hawthorn and footscray- yeah they are a fair way ahead of us

afl is a cyclical game some clubs will be on the rise while others will be on a decline.

Don't underestimate our young players they may not all be first round picks like the Hawks or the Dogs but players like Fisher, Bentick, Simpson, Carrots, Waite and all the ones from last years draft will all be good players in the future and will hold us in good sted for years to come. As for Essendon i wouldn't rate there list much ahead of ours we beat them last year maybe even twice i can't remember so hold your horses on that one. Fremantle i don't rate that highly and we shall see next Saturday night how they stack up against us.

I think we as supporters need to be careful about what we are actually barracking for. We want wins, not draft picks. We have already assembled a number of young kids and these guys are going to be the backbone of our team over the next few years.

As Pagan said, they have done their apprenticeships now and are alot more physically mature to meet the needs of AFL football.

Totally disagree about our list. Totally.

Our team has been built on character, hard work and dedication forged in the fires of destiny through arduos tests of character and mettle. We are moulded as one, bonded through harship and now stand united as one of the only true teams in the AFL. It is this depth, this journey, this strength of character that has been scratched like blood from stone with broken nails as we desperately clung to our precipice which speaks of who we are more than any list of single names.

We are carlton and we are back. Be aware for all have been warned and none shall be spared as the dark navy rises again to lay barren all who stand before us.
